Quick apology
[edit]...if my statements on the 3RR noticeboard sounded affronting. Not meant to be that way, but reading it again, I felt my words might come out worse than intended. My apologies. Kind regards. Wifione ....... Leave a message 17:43, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

Your block on OptimusPrimeRibs
[edit]I read the Admin notice pages a lot (for learning ) I noticed your block on OPtimusPrimeRib and wasn't sure he was in the wrong for adding in "self-described". The reference in the page for that entry does point to the Berkley Trade, but it's an interview with John Edwards, so. he is, in effect describing himself as a psychic / medium. There are no other ref's than that one for it. As BLP's need to be sourced reliably and since extraordinary claims need extraordinary proof, and as we have only his word, as given to the Berkley Times, it looks like OptimusPrimeRib was right. Yeah, he messed up by saying he'd edit war, but that was after he was blocked in the first place. For full disclosure, I have no stake in that article, I never edited it, but I do question the initial block on Optimus. Any thoughts? KoshVorlon' Naluboutes AeriaGloris 17:29, 24 May 2011 (UTC)
- Hi. He was blocked for 3RR. Do write back if you need more clarifications. Regards. Wifione ....... Leave a message 17:32, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

- Yes, but was he actually edit warring, BLP has a notable exemption for 3RR:

Removal of libelous, biased, unsourced, or poorly sourced contentious material that violates the policy on biographies of living persons (BLP). What counts as exempt under BLP can be controversial. Consider reporting to the BLP noticeboard instead of relying on this exemption.
John Edwards told the Berkly Trade that he was a medium, it was sourced as such in the article, so it would be appropriate to use "Self described", because that's just what happened. He removed "medium" and replaced it with "Self-described medium" which reflects what the sole source shows. Near as I can tell, he never should have been blocked to begin with, as his reverts fell under the 3rr exemption for BLP. The Paranormal link you and Dreadstar pointed me to is a proposed decision and not a final decision. It's not a policy, nor a guideline, but rather a decision that's being proposed. You follow ? KoshVorlon' NaluboutesAeria Gloris 19:26, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
- No, that's incorrect, there was no WP:BLP violation, so no exemption from WP:3RR. There are multiple sources that talk about Edward being a medium, whether they believe it or not, the article does not rely on a 'sole source'. Berkley Trade did not 'interview' Edward, as you indicate above, they are the publisher of his book One Last Time and it includes quotes from others stating that Edward is a medium, so there's no chance at all there is a BLP vio on this. And the ArbCom link I provided is indeed a passed Principle: Wikipedia:Requests_for_arbitration/Paranormal#Adequate_framing; sorry for the incorrect link - I've corrected it.
