IP up to the same disruptive behaviour

Hi Widr. You previously blocked this IP for the exact thing they are doing again; removing comments from user talk pages. Could you take a look please. Cheers. Robvanvee 06:05, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

They have now resorted to uncivil and degrading insults. Robvanvee 06:19, 9 March 2020 (UTC)

Range Block Question

@Widr: Why are you blocking 172.58.128.0/19 which is my Metro (TMobile) phone, and I assume all others who use this internet service provider? I have personally done nothing wrong. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 73.8.46.46 (talk) 14:56, 22 March 2020 (UTC)

The IP range 172.58.128.0 was blocked because vandals were using the IPs within it, and Wikipedia operates by the logic of "this is why we can't have nice things" towards the activities of persistent vandals.--Mr Fink (talk) 16:13, 22 March 2020 (UTC)

Could I trouble you to extend the block on User:62.219.62.203 ? You blocked them for a month due to gibberish being added to the Talk:List of organisms by chromosome count, and now that their block is over, they're back at it. Regards, Tarl N. (discuss) 14:14, 31 March 2020 (UTC)

TPA revocation

Hey Widr, hope you are doing well. I came across GAMER COOL37 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · nuke contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log) who you blocked. It looks like they are vandalizing their talk page after you block. Just wanted to put it on your radar. Thanks! -- LuK3 (Talk) 18:36, 6 April 2020 (UTC)

Look here

I'm trying to get a vandal blocked, but you wouldn't let me because you think my reports are "stale." I think he's also evading a block that has been placed upon a vandal that had done the same thing. Why, Widr? Why? Call me when you get the chance 17:19, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

You gave the IP three warnings in a row, several hours after their last edit, and then went straight to AIV, which is meant for urgent reports. That's why. Widr (talk) 17:26, 12 April 2020 (UTC)
I didn't know that. Call me when you get the chance 17:28, 12 April 2020 (UTC)

IP 146.199.224.201 — is now 146.199.224.135?

I recognize fixations. You blocked IP 146.199.224.201 on 25 November 2019 for making disruptive edits.
I think this user has returned as 146.199.224.135, and is again making disruptive edits in articles about lesbian women or in their names. Pyxis Solitary (yak). L not Q. 09:25, 15 April 2020 (UTC)

LTA

You recently blocked Special:Contributions/88.84.156.102 for LTA, I think you might want to look at Special:Contributions/88.84.156.103. Similar IPs and edit summaries. You make the call, since I'm not entirely sure what this is myself. –ToxiBoi! (public) 23:09, 18 April 2020 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) I've blocked the little range 88.84.156.103/24, as all the edits from it are obviously by the same person, making 27 edits in all. Bishonen | tålk 23:23, 18 April 2020 (UTC).

When vandalism isn't obvious for anyone, AIV is not the correct place to file a report. Especially when there have been no warnings since January. Widr (talk) 17:13, 21 April 2020 (UTC)

Block

Hello!

You blocked User:Durikum16 in March for using multiple accounts. Was Durikum the sockmaster och suckpuppet? If sockpuppet, who is the master? And if sockmaster, who are the socks?Jonteemil (talk) 15:38, 22 April 2020 (UTC)

What made me wonder was the low number of edits, only one. Were there deleted edits that were disruptive?Jonteemil (talk) 07:25, 23 April 2020 (UTC)
Can you please respond. I see you've been editing since I left the message.Jonteemil (talk) 11:12, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
It should be quite obvious if you look at the editing history of the article in question, the editors and their block logs. What does this have to do with you? Widr (talk) 11:45, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
Well, it's just that Durikum18, Durikum17, Durikum16, Kashkumar16 and Zestray seems to be the same user and I just wondered which should have {{Sockpuppet}} and which one would have {{sockpuppeteer}}. Since no one had either template I wondered if there are any other accounts that are linked to these that lead to you blocking for abusing several acoounts.Jonteemil (talk) 21:00, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
Like most of my blocks, this was based on a report at AIV. I very rarely tag accounts, as I don't find that necessary in majority of cases. Widr (talk) 21:36, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
Okay, I found the report Special:Diff/946714738. I'll tag the users with the templates.Jonteemil (talk) 22:13, 24 April 2020 (UTC)

Vote (X) for Change is back

Since you have blocked socks of User:Vote (X) for Change I'd like you to take a look at activity on Conversion between Julian and Gregorian calendars. 86.147.59.44 has been misquoting a reliable source, and claiming she's right and the source is wrong, which is characteristic of VXfC. The location of the IP (SW England) and topic (calendars) are also characteristic. Jc3s5h (talk) 14:25, 3 May 2020 (UTC)

Let's get this right. I didn't say the twentieth-century source was wrong - I said that a fifth-century source with access to the papers disagrees. 86.147.59.44 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 14:29, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
And how is the source being misquoted? It claims 45 BC was a leap year, which is exactly what I wrote. 86.147.59.44 (talk) 14:32, 3 May 2020 (UTC)

[4] - you removed a bunch of unprocessed items dated by June 12 (including mine) with edits summary "rm old". IMO you made a mistake. Please review you actions. Staszek Lem (talk) 16:50, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

None of those reports require action, they are either stale or otherwise unactionable, such as yours. That board is for obvious vandalism. Widr (talk) 16:54, 12 June 2020 (UTC)
Sorry, disagreed. This is an obvious disruptive editing. And the warning template says so: "Please stop making test edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Surname. It is considered vandalism, which, under Wikipedia policy, can lead to being blocked from editing." Staszek Lem (talk) 19:06, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

Hi, this is walkranrunning, aka Jeff Rodman, Polycom co-founder. I do not understand the problem. I have made no changes to the Polycom page yet (I'm reviewing it), and the only changes have been to the PictureTel page, at which I was director of hardware engineering in the early days. I made very few deletions there, and my changes were to fill in information about the early days of that company. I did change the product list, both by removing the PicTel name (that name was changed early in the company's history, as the page now describes) for products developed after the name was changed to PictureTel. I would not consider that deletion though, especially as the products are still in the list with more added. Walkranrunning (talk) 19:17, 12 June 2020 (UTC)walkranrunning 6/12/2020 1217

Murumokirby360

Hi Widr, a couple of days ago you blocked Murumokirby360 for disruption on the Frank Sinatra article. His only two edits since coming off the block have been to continue that same disruption, despite a note asking him to stop (left on his talk page). He hasn’t discussed the matter (although he was pinged to the open thread on the article talk page), and isn’t responding to comments on his talk page. Is there anything else that could be tried? Thanks - SchroCat (talk) 17:48, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

Thanks, blocked indef or until they start to communicate. Widr (talk) 18:12, 18 June 2020 (UTC)
That’s great: thanks very much. Hopefully they’ll post something suitable on their talk page, although I guess there is a chance we’ll see an IP doing the same reverts. Cheers - SchroCat (talk) 18:25, 18 June 2020 (UTC)

Unblock

Hello Widr in January you blocked the IP range 152.51.0.0/17 for a whole two years. You may have had your good reasons, but these IP addresses are semi-dynamically assigned by Wind, one of the main broadband providers in Italy (they rotate at connection, but ADSL reconnections are infrequent). This means that 32 thousand Italians are currently unable to edit Wikipedia as it was intended, or register an account to do it!

One them is me. I was an active Wikipedia user 10 years ago, but currently I only do some editing when I stumble upon an error, which allowed me to understand the error message enough to get in touch with you. I hope you will reconsider such a blanket ban, and opt to use some less disruptive method, provided that the emergency you faced in January still exists.

Writing from my mobile is not very practical.

Kind regards. LP — Preceding unsigned comment added by 37.173.41.23 (talk) 07:46, 20 June 2020 (UTC)

That range has never been blocked. Widr (talk) 14:55, 20 June 2020 (UTC)
my bad, I miss-typed one digit, the range is 151.51.0.0/17, as I said it is not easy to write from mobile... cheers 37.170.105.90 (talk) 13:27, 21 June 2020 (UTC)
I've switched it to anon-only block, so registering an account should be possible now. I will not remove the block completely, because there has been too much continuous disruption over the years. Widr (talk) 14:28, 21 June 2020 (UTC)

Need Some Assistance

I am having a little issue with Theroadislong. He has been biting Kayla kas pretty bad with nonsense like this and this. Kayla kas is a new editor with just 13 edits under her belt. Her first article, her co-hosted podcast, was approved by me. I felt it was a very neutrally written article. I gave advice on the second article, but with the way Theroadislong is acting, I don't expect Kayla to return. This is not constructive editing coming from Theroadislong and I think Kayla has the makings of a good editor, she just needs a push in the right direction.

Would you please have a word with Theroadislong, as my words have fallen on deaf ears? Thanks...NeutralhomerTalk • 10:10 on June 18, 2020 (UTC) • #StayAtHome

Recently when I tried to edit Wikipedia without logging in, I found that you have blocked my an IP address/range from editing. I don't edit from my IP address thus, I found it strange that if even I had committed any folly which I wouldn't knowingly, my account was left unblocked. After some reading on this topic and surfing thru your talk page, I concluded that it was not meant for me and I was some collateral damage. Please confirm this.
