Welcome to Wikipedia!

[edit]

Season's Greetings WhiteEcho, welcome to Wikipedia!

I noticed nobody had said hi yet... Hi!

If you feel a change is needed, feel free to make it yourself! Wikipedia is a wiki, so anyone (yourself included) can edit any article by following the Edit this page link. Wikipedia convention is to be bold and not be afraid of making mistakes. If you're not sure how editing works, have a look at How to edit a page, or try out the Sandbox to test your editing skills.

You might like some of these links and tips:

If, for some reason, you are unable to fix a problem yourself, feel free to ask someone else to do it. Wikipedia has a vibrant community of contributors who have a wide range of skills and specialties, and many of them would be glad to help. As well as the wiki community pages there are IRC Channels, where you are more than welcome to ask for assistance.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks and happy editing, -- Alf melmac 17:43, 31 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging for Image:MalcolmSmith.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MalcolmSmith.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 11:22, 26 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MalcolmSmith.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.

Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nilfanion (talk) 16:05, 14 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

These images are marked for deletion due to using a license incompatible with Wikipedia. Please visit these images and address the notices placed there. If you do not mind these images being deleted, please reply here. Thanks! ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 22:36, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The copyright of these images was released by the author.

I am wondering if you would be interested in contributing to a new WikiProject that I have proposed? It focuses on motorsports in North American that are not covered by other WikiProjects. One of the biggest uncovered areas is Off-road racing, and I notice that you mainly contribute in that area. Please check out the proposal, and join if you are interested and have the time. Cheers! I have added you to the potential interested parties at the proposal page. We'll need several more interested regular contributors before I'm willing to spend the time to develop a WikiProject. I will continue to develop this relatively undeveloped portion of Wikipedia. I hope you will too. You can always contact me on my talk page if you are looking for ideas. I would love to see articles developed for some of the big offroad drivers in the Baja 1000, CORR, SCORE, etc. Royalbroil T : C 02:55, 19 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, you've tagged this image as {{PD-release}} but provided no evidence to support that claim the holder of copyright has released it into the public domain. The image is also missing any source information. If you hold the copyright for this image, please state this on the image summary and change the tag to {{PD-self}}. If you have permission of the copyright holder to upload the image into the public domain, then evidence of that needs to be provided. Without this information the image is likely to be deleted. Duplicate images uploaded

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Husaberg 2009 unvealed.jpg. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:NyHusa.jpg. The copy called Image:NyHusa.jpg has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot 15:49, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Image deletion

[edit]

Hello, I suggest you review our image use policy more thoroughly before uploading images. See Wikipedia:Image use policy. You cannot upload images stating that they are used "with permission" or for use on Wikipedia only. Since this is a free encyclopedia, images you upload to Wikipedia should be licensed so anyone else can use them as well. So, in your case, you should ask your friend to release the photos under an acceptable GFDL, Creative Commons, or Public Domain license. See the "User-created images" section of the page I mention above. Hope this helps! --Spike Wilbury talk 17:43, 11 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
