Some advice
[edit]Hi! You will have noticed that many of your edits have been reverted. That may not necessarily always be because your edits were directly wrong, but may in many cases be because they do not conform to the standards and guidelines of Wikipedia in one way or other. You should take some time to get acquainted with the rules and workings of Wikipedia. A few points connected to some of your edits:
- The presentation style of Wikipedia is supposed to be encyclopedic. That means that words like "Wow" here, use of exclamation marks like here, use of subjective descriptions like "amazing" and "awesome" here and expression of personal views like here should be avoided.
- When editing climate tables, you have to make sure that the new values really are consistent with the rest of the table. The existing table will usually have one or more sources that lists the data for one specific station in one specific period of time. You cannot then add a value that comes from another station like here, nor can you add a value outside the time range of the table like here. Obviously you also cannot add values that are contested like here or unsourced like here. Regarding your edit to Cloncurry, Queensland here, the value you added is from another station (obviously no airport in 1889), is from far outside the time range and is contested. Please also note that it does not help to change the time range like you tried here, since there is no way to know which other values would have to be changed if the time range was another.
- Wikipedia is based on co-operation and consensus, which you can read about here. Many problems and conflicts are solved by discussions in the articles' talk pages. So far you have not participated in any such discussions. My advice is that you involve yourself in talk page discussions in order to learn more about how Wikipedia works. You should also read about the BRD cycle here. When you are reverted, like here, your next step should not be to make the same edit again, but to go to the talk page and start a discussion in order to get a consensus for your version, if possible.
- Finally: You are marking many of your edits as minor. Please read WP:Minor about when to mark and when not to mark edits as minor.
Happy editing! --T*U (talk) 15:24, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

An update from the Sustainability Initiative
[edit]Hi, Weneedwikipedia! Thank you again for supporting the Sustainability Initiative, which aims at reducing the environmental impact of the Wikimedia movement. Over the past two years, more than 200 Wikipedians from all over the world have come together to push the Wikimedia movement towards greater sustainability.
What's new?
We are writing you this message because there is great news: The Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation has finally passed a resolution stating that the Foundation is committed to seeking ways to reduce the impact of its activities on the environment. Also, we have created a cool logo and found a nice name for the project which you can see on the right :-)
What's next?
Currently, we are working with Wikimedia Foundation staff to make sustainability a key priority for the selection of a new location for Wikimedia servers in Singapore. Also, we have presented the Wikimedia Foundation with a green energy roadmap to have all Wikimedia servers run on renewable energy by 2019.
Please help!
Let's keep this project moving forward – and there are several ways in which you can help:
- Ask other Wikipedians to sign the project page as well – this way we can show the Wikimedia Foundation that this is an issue that the community really cares about.
- Talk to Wikimedians you know about the importance of reducing the environmental impact of the Wikimedia movement.
- Improve and translate the project page on Meta.
If you have any questions, you can contact us on on Meta. Again, thank you very much for your support! --Aubrey and Gnom (talk) 09:33, 9 April 2017 (UTC)

[edit]I wish you would stop putting singular "record" entries into weather boxes. The weather box tables are supposed to consist of well-sourced data, preferably from official sources. If there are any singular events of special interest, they are better presented in plain text outside of the weather box. Only make sure that the source is good enough (please read WP:RS), and that the presentation only states what is covered by the source (please read WP:SYNTH). --T*U (talk) 07:55, 17 April 2017 (UTC)

[edit]I noticed you were most recent non-anon editor of https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Orders_of_magnitude_(temperature) and since I am very new to serious contributing on WP, I just added a small update to that page and so I ask please look at that edit & let me know if, however insignificant, there might be any fault thereof in my several-byte addition to that article. Yes, a bit paranoid regarding such milli-edit, but I am one who overly treads carefully wherever I may. Thanks for attention to this minutiae.Sinsearach (talk) 14:42, 20 April 2017 (UTC)
Um ... OK? --WeNeedWikipedia!Wikipedia is essential!!! Can't live without it!!!(Say what?) 04:50, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
The article Repulse Bay (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Per WP:2DABS; hatnotes are quicker and easier for the reader
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Boleyn (talk) 07:39, 10 June 2017 (UTC)

Re your message in my talk page
[edit]Hi Weneedwikipedia! You may remember that we had some contact when you were new to Wikipedia a couple of years ago. Among other things I gave you some advice here in your talk page. Since then I have come across your edits now and then, and have seen you making some good edits. But I have also stumbled across edits that were far from encyclopedic, so I have followed your edits a bit closer recently. I have reverted quite a few, but certainly not all, and I have tried to always give an explanation. I have also not been the only one to revert you, just as others have been trying to give you advice here above. My additional advice would be to think one extra time before you post your edits, and ask yourself if it really is encyclopedic. Also consider suggesting your changes in the article talk page first. Regards! --T*U (talk) 06:43, 24 September 2019 (UTC)

[edit]Please do not add or change content, as you did at Shashlik, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. IamNotU (talk) 16:31, 28 March 2020 (UTC)
Please stop your disruptive editing.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant noticeboards.
- If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.
If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing. CrazyBoy826 (talk) 17:49, 24 April 2020 (UTC)
I don't think so, do my edits even look like disrupting? Also why green precipitation chart rather than blue? --WeNeedWikipedia!Wikipedia is essential!!! Can't live without it!!!(Say what?) 06:02, 25 April 2020 (UTC)
- Look at Template:Weather box/doc. Green precipitation and rain is recommended and should be used. If you want to change it, please provide a good reason, or your edits will be reverted. However, this warning does not mean you will be blocked if you reverse your actions and start making constructive edits. CrazyBoy826 (talk) 18:18, 30 April 2020 (UTC)
- The reason I prefered blue was that I was trying to blend in the colors of such charts in the same article so that they look even. Referring to this article, seeing that most of the charts in the precipitation section are blue. Though charts like Moscow, Ulan Ude and Yakutsk have green precipitation section and are their own templates. So what do you want me to do? Would you rather swap out the templates for blue or all precipitation charts in the climate of Russia article be all green? --WeNeedWikipedia!Wikipedia is essential!!! Can't live without it!!!(Say what?) 05:34, 1 May 2020 (UTC)
P.S. In the Template:Weather box/doc I don't see that it mentioning green precipitation is recommended and should be used.

Come on man
[edit]You can do better than this. I just removed some climate data you added to the Kyusyur article a few days ago which showed a temperature of 43°C in northern Russia in November . You know that is obviously a false reading. Please think before you type. —Soap— 01:54, 14 July 2020 (UTC)
- OOOOOOOOPS, I got that already. But where does that record -1 degrees come from, or who came up with -1 in the November record? --WeNeedWikipedia!Wikipedia is essential!!! Can't live without it!!!(Say what?) 02:44, 14 July 2020 (UTC)
- We can only assume that -1 was the reading that appeared in the source before it got corrupted. Every now and then a source will expire and we trust that the people who worked with it earlier were accurate in reporting it when it was live. I dont really feel like looking for another source or using archive.org but if someone really truly doubts the original figures we typed up in 2014 we could go down that route.
- As an aside, I agree with TU above that we should not be adding in record highs and lows that took place outside the time window of the table, even if they are verifiable. For example the record lows in early America like -44°C in Bath, Maine and -34°C in Boston, both recorded in the 1850s, are outside the scope of our climate charts, interesting though they may be. Youre certainly not the only person who's ever done this though, and I wasnt even aware it was considered a problem until I thought about it just now, so dont let me put you down. Best regards, —Soap— 19:57, 14 July 2020 (UTC)
I dont think the source you used here would pass WP:RS. Its a political site. I dont feel like getting involved at this point, though, and in fact I was coming here to show you another user who added in a record high temperature outside the time window, but I noticed your edit first. All I'll say is, use your own judgment. Thanks, —Soap— 18:55, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
Im sorry for being such a pest, and I should have seen this myself, but .... the graph on the site you posted shows a near-constant dew point that is significantly higher than the temperature. That alone suggests to me that the temperature readings are far from accurate and should be discarded. —Soap— 20:18, 4 August 2020 (UTC)
- What if the dewpoint graph is just broken or glitched? It could be a computer error at the weather station. Or maybe that the dewpoint meter at the station stops functioning below a certain temperature and cannot go lower? --WeNeedWikipedia!Wikipedia is essential!!! Can't live without it!!!(Say what?) 04:36, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
- Itd still fail as a reliable resource just on that. But I need a new hobby, as this climate editing project is causing me a lot of stress, and it's especially frustrating for me because I have no way to explain to people I know in person why I'm so stressed out during a period in my life where things have been mostly turning in my favor. Sure, I break promises all the time, so maybe I'll be right back at it in a few days, but for the meantime I am excusing myself from all climate-related editing except for maintenance of edits I've already made. So I advise against restoring the Greenland edit, but I'm not going to jump in and revert it again. Best wishes, —Soap— 13:23, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
Klinck
[edit]Dont know if youre still around but I thought you might like this:
Temperature of −69.6 °C discovered at Klinck AWS, Greenland. It's going through the pop science media now but I went ahead and looked for the original source. It's not clear that Klinck is the same station we currently have records for, but it's likely people will add it to the article at Summit Camp or somewhere else soon.
