CCMS history

[edit]

Hi Mike, thank you for expanding the article on the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. In an edit summary, you credited the former college librarian with the text that was added. Can you clarify the copyright status of that text? Did its author (or the school) grant Wikipedia appropriate permission to use it? If not, would you mind asking them for explicit permission? Thank you. – Minh Nguyễn 💬 23:53, 7 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Minh, In 2011, when I served as the Director of Library and Information Technology at CCMS, I granted permission to Wikipedia for the use of this information about the history of CCMS. However, for some reason the page edits were removed. I now serve as the Systems Librarian at Northern Kentucky University, but still have contact with CCMS, so I will reach out to the current librarian on staff to obtain their current permission. The history was authored by the former President of the College (Dr. Dan Flory) and was the property of the college upon his retirement. Thank you. Mike Wells 💬 11:36, 8 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Would you mind indicating as much on Talk:Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science? That way other editors will know not to remove the text on copyright grounds in the future. Thank you. – Minh Nguyễn 💬 21:48, 8 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! Also, just a tip: you can automatically sign your talk page posts with ~~~~, rather than having to insert your name and date manually. (You can customize the signature on the Preferences page.) If you have any questions about contributing to Wikipedia, I'd be happy to help. – Minh Nguyễn 💬 04:43, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you so much for the tip! slackwater 01:04, 12 March 2015 (UTC)
