Unblock

[edit]
This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

How is welcoming people "trolling"? If you care to check my contributions you will see I have taken an active role in welcoming new users and ensuring that older ones continue to feel the warmth of the project (I have received much positive feedback from this latter cause and only one complaint (if it was even that, it was posted on another user's talk page and did not express actual disdain at my actions). I will admit I have been engaged in a dispute with another user, but only after they incorrectly (by their admission) blocked me for being a sock puppet, tried to excuse their actions without apology on the IRC unblocking channel and then left threatening messages on my talk page. If this is of concern to any admin they must keep in mind that there are other channels for dealing with this. I welcome anyone to present evidence that I am "trolling, not here to contribute", however until this is forthcoming perhaps it would be nice to unblock me so I can continue to spread friendship around the project.

Decline reason:

Repeatedly spamming established editors with welcome messages is trolling. You were warned once already not to spam these users with the messages and blatantly ignored that block, continuing to spam the messages. The indef block is justified, though may be overturned once you do something constructive on this project. (By constructive it is meant that you contribute to the mainspace) --DarkFalls talk 10:14, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Please reconsider the above
For a start I was not "repeatedly spamming established users", this would imply I was leaving many welcome templates on the talk page of a single user, and then repeated this act for a large number of established users. I did not do this, and if you actually check my contributions you will find that I posted the occasion welcome message on the talk page of an editor who had not received one before in between welcoming new users. This act was merely to spread the warmth of the project and was intended as a nice gesture, if you check the archives it was generally received well, and only one user came close to complaining (and this was in a very cryptic message left on another user's page).
The person who "warned" me had already jumped the gun and wrongly blocked me as a sock and was providing advice which was contrary to the general feeling I was getting from users who had actually gotten a template. I think I could be forgiven if I did not hold her caution in the highest regard
I did not "blatantly ignored that block", the block was a wrongful block implying I was a sock puppet, it had nothing to do with posting welcome templates
Again I was not spamming templates, a quick count reveals that I posted 68 templates to new users and only 12 in a nice gesture towards established users, of these 3 appreciated it, 1 gave a slight indication that it was not welcome (although no issue was raised with me) and others were reverted under the wrongful premise of trolling before their users could respond. Given this track record I believe one can only hold my edits in good faith
How can I make constructive edits to the mainspace if I'm blocked???
I think it is quite clear that an admin needs to take these factors into account before jumping on the bandwagon WelcomeMachine 10:30, 30 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
