Sign your comments

[edit]

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! John Reaves 00:11, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"germaine"

[edit]

Hello, I've notice you use the word "germaine" a few times on Talk:Saddam Hussein. What does it mean? Neither http://www.wiktionary.org , http://www.dictionary.com or http://www.m-w.com seem to know that the word exists! -- Chuq 02:27, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It means "appropriate to the matter at hand." I just looked it up and I've misspelled it. That's probably why it wasn't found on your search. I'm sorry. I'll go through and fix it.

Merriam Webster--One entry found for germane. Main Entry: ger·mane Pronunciation: (")j&r-'mAn Function: adjective Etymology: Middle English germain, literally, having the same parents, from Anglo-French 1 obsolete : closely akin 2 : being at once relevant and appropriate : FITTING <omit details that are not germane to the discussion> synonym see RELEVANT - ger·mane·ly adverb
