See also sections

[edit]

@WeHoDavid: I have noticed that you have been very active adding items to "See also" sections in the following articles: Scientology and celebrities, Freewinds, Scientology beliefs and practices, Scientology front groups, and Church of Spiritual Technology.

Per MOS:SEEALSO, items added to "See also" sections "should be relevant and limited to a reasonable number".

As an alternative to long lists in see-also sections, we have navigation templates, and there are two for the Scientology topic: Template:Scientology (called a navbar) and Template:Scientology sidebar (called a sidebar). Navbars look like a horizontal bar (when collapsed) and are usually placed at the bottom of articles (per MOS:LAYOUT). Sidebars are vertical and are usually found at the top-right corner of articles (under any infobox, if there is one).

You are welcome to add one or both of these navigation templates to any Scientology-topic article that doesn't already have them.

The Template:Scientology navbar is appropriate for almost any Scientology-topic article. To use it, you add this to the article: {{Scientology}}

The Template:Scientology sidebar is intended to be a shorter version, not comprehensive or all-encompassing, but to represent some of the main top-level articles a newcomer to the Scientology-topic should visit before diving deeper. (There are over 600 articles in the Scientology-topic area.) To use it, you add this to the article: {{Scientology sidebar}}

However, it is not appropriate to add lists of articles in the "See also" section that do not have a close relation to the topic of the article. For example, adding Freewinds to the see-also section of Scientology and celebrities isn't particularly appropriate because there is no particular connection there; the Freewinds is not part of the Celebrity Centre network, and a celebrity-scientologist going to the ship is just like any other Scientologist going there.

I'm not saying don't ever use the see-also section, but I'm suggesting you use the navbox templates freely while being discriminating/choosy about what you put in a see-also section. Grorp (talk) 04:12, 5 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sourcing to Wikipedia

Hey, WHD! We don't source to Wikipedia. The relevant citation needs to be added in the article when you add the content. Valereee (talk) 14:03, 13 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Use of commas

[edit]

@WeHoDavid: I sometimes have to remind myself that commas should contribute to the flow of text when spoken, rather than the look of the written word. I reverted one of your edits to New England Highway because it didn’t sound right when spoken. I have left the other similar edit so as not to appear too pedantic. You might like to revisit it and see how it sounds with all the appropriate pauses for commas. Cheers, Downsize43 (talk) 00:09, 17 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

[edit]

I noticed you were editing some health-related articles recently. Thanks for that work. I wanted to say that a bunch of us hang out at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Medicine. You're welcome to join us if that's an area of editing that interests you. It's a good place to ask questions about finding good sources for medical content or writing style. Feel free to put the group's page on your watchlist, or stop by to say hello some time. WhatamIdoing (talk) 18:25, 28 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Commas and British English

[edit]

Hi there! I see you've been adding a lot of commas to the article John Gielgud. This article is written in British English, which typically does not require commas after introductory adverbs. Could you please undo your changes? Thanks, Nikkimaria (talk) 05:05, 7 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
