Hey man - when reverting with huggle, and a page is blanked and ClueBot doesn't revert it, it could be that the blanker is the creator of the page. In that case, tag the article (or whatever it is) for speedy deletion under G7. Thanks :) --Addihockey10 21:07, 1 October 2010 (UTC)

About your reverts.
Hi Wayne
I recently edited Nando's page due to some inaccuracies and you reverted them back, stating that is was vandalism. It was not vandalism to provide accurate information about Nando's restaurant. Vandalism is allowing poor information to be around Wikipedia. How can you make the inaccuracies accurate?
Another user reverted the same edit you made earlier. Wayne Olajuwon chat 00:30, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
Well, I don't get it then... so I'm not allowed to fix mistakes but other people are allowed to interfere on my corrections? The hell with Wikipedia then.... Let people believe in any crap it is posted there. Thanks, and have a good night.
Howdy!
You seem to be a new(er) rollbacker, and I'm glad to see that. Just so you learn one thing it took me and several other users a little bit to learn. Anyone can remove Vandal warnings from their talk page without it being vandalism per WP:BLANKING. Happy reverting! Allmightyduck What did I do wrong? 02:01, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Did you read the article? My comment was more comprehensive than the paragraph of junk previously exhibited. Ayensua (talk) 21:25, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
- You can't make articles that meet the criteria to be speedy deleted because users can be blocked from editing based on the information they put on a article, if it's appropriate or not. Wayne Olajuwon chat 21:28, 2 October 2010 (UTC)

Regarding adminship
I saw your post on Airplamenam's talk, which I stalk; I'd give it a few more months, a few thousand more edits, and some experience in areas other than vandal-fighting first. Cheers, Access Denied [FATAL ERROR] 05:34, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, but what areas should it be? Wayne Olajuwon chat 15:15, 3 October 2010 (UTC)
- Edit anywhere you enjoy editing. Try places you haven't edited before to broaden your experience. You may even find a new place that you like. Honestly, I would suggest waiting, just like Access Denied said. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems as though you seek adminship as a sort of status symbol, and will tailor your editing habits accordingly solely so you may succeed. Please don't take this the wrong way. It is an awesome thing that you want to become a better editor, and adminship could be a motivational goal. Again, it's no big deal and isn't very exciting. It should come as a needed tool that would help out with your day-to-day wiki-tasks. Some good goals to set would be expanding a few articles so that they can be listed at good articles (you follow NASCAR, so maybe you could work on a couple articles there). Also, brush up on your policy knowledge. That's all I can think of right now. Happy editing, and keep asking questions :) Airplaneman ✈ 17:22, 3 October 2010 (UTC)

I don't think "Atheism Conquered" is about the inquisition. My removal of this text here is, in good faith, not vandalism, because the article "Atheism Conquered" is about the book, not about the Inquisition. Unless you are willing to explain and expand the article about how a discussion of the Inquisition is somehow relevant to the book, please withdraw this statement:
- Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did with this edit to the page Atheism Conquered. Such edits constitute vandalism and are reverted. Please do not continue to make unconstructive edits to pages; use the sandbox for testing. Thank you.

FYI, an author blanking a page they created falls under G7 of WP:CSD. Next time, simply tag it with {{db-g7}} instead of reverting it. Thanks, Tyrol5 [Talk] 20:29, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- I reverted it because the author removed the speedy deletion tag. Wayne Olajuwon chat 20:30, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- I can see your logic, but this is common among users who blank new pages in which they are the only substantial contributor. It is more appropriate to revert if they removed the csd tag only and not the content of the article. Tyrol5 [Talk] 20:34, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Institution of mechanical engineers
Hi You sent me a comment regarding the removal of information from the IMechE page on the engineering heritage awards.
I am removing the information as it is incorrect and was not meant to be there but on a separate page entirely. I had not realized that it went live yesterday and I am removing all EHA content until I can upload all the information next week.
I am the Comms manager for the institution and secretariat for the awards programme - hence have IMechE1 as my login.

That vandal
Thanks for helping with that vandal just now. One point, though: users are allowed to remove warnings from their talk pages - that's taken as meaning that they have read them, and of course they are still there in the history. You shouldn't revert a user on his own talk page, because it just leads to edit wars, and may inflame a situation unnecessarily (though that guy didn't need any inflaming!) Even IP users are allowed to remove warnings - there are only a few exceptions - the policy is at WP:BLANKING. It's not really a good idea to taunt someone on his user page after he's been blocked, either, however much he deserves it. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 16:21, 9 October 2010 (UTC)

Hi. Thanks for the report at WP:AIV but I declined to block this editor. We normally don't block people unless they've gotten multiple warnings and are still misbehaving. TJ Corbs
Wayne,
You should know that TJ Corbs is a blogger that is attempting to use Wikipedia for his own personal gain.
First, it is unknown if Mr. Corbs actually exists. However if you were to review his blog posts on Bleacher Report you can see in the comments section that it is clear that Mr. Corbs posts under various aliases (on various university sport/fan websites). He antagonizes the fans of these institutions and attempts to build his readership by linking his articles all over their boards. Several fan message boards have banned him (including Kentucky and Ohio State, just this week).
He should be removed from Wiki as this is not a news item, and his blog is not something that should be promoted. Given the incendiary nature of his comments towards universities, athletic programs and fan bases that he is not fond of.

Anon User 62.133.12.2
Hi. You issued a final warning to 62.133.12.2 on 4 October, following previous vandalism warnings issued by yourself and others. However, on review of this user's edits, I think there are mitigating circumstances which would perhaps make that final warning unjustified. I have summarised what appears to have happened on the user's talk page and taken the liberty of giving him a partial apology, as I believe that he was being constructive (indeed, reverting vandalism by a subsequently-identified sockpuppet, Professor Fairness) at first, but his efforts were mistaken for vandalism and his own vandalism (which was minor in comparison to that committed by the sockpuppet) was probably done out of frustration. I haven't removed the warning messages however as I'm not sure what the protocol is for that. DavidWard talk 21:57, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- So does the final warning mean anything then, if its unjustified? Wayne Olajuwon chat 21:59, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well a final warning would trigger an auto report if another edit is reverted. Even though the user has done good faith edits, his edit summaries or the lack of them makes it easy for somebody to mistake it for vandalism.--iGeMiNix/What's up?/My Stuff 22:08, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- He needs to put better edit summaries, so nobody will call it vandalism. Wayne Olajuwon chat 22:09, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- I agree with IGeMiNix and feel that its a bit unfair to leave the final warning on his/her talk page in these circumstances, where (in the event of future legitimate edits being mistaken for vandalism, as happened before) it might lead to him being blocked without further discussion. And I have given him advice about his edit summaries. DavidWard talk 22:11, 14 October 2010 (UTC)
- I saw your message on his talk page having to do with his edits. Wayne Olajuwon chat 22:13, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

Archiving
Hi Wayne Olajuwon. I appreciate you were trying to be helpful with setting up archiving for 220.101, but many editors don't want other editors making major changes to their talkpages (or userpages). 220.101 knows what they're doing, and knows how to get things done if they feel things need to be done, so it's better to wait until 220.101 asks you to do something.
I really struggled with archiving when I first set it up, and I really wish there had been an easy way to find someone who knew how to do it. Have you thought about seeing if there's a category for "editors who understand archiving"? If there is, you might want to add yourself to it. If there isn't, you could always create one! You might also think about creating a userbox to "advertise" your services as an archiving specialist - for bonus points you could see if the userbox could add the category automatically.
Happy editing! TFOWR 10:02, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

After I noticed your post on the ClueBot Commons, I added your user page to the anti-vandal opt-in list. Keep in mind that this won't guarantee ClueBot will revert vandalism, but it will ensure that the bot can revert when it has the opportunity within 3 seconds of the vandalism. Philadelphia Parking Authority revert
Thank you for your very prompt revert of vandalism of the Philadelphia Parking Authority article. I must say that as a Philadelphia motorist, I can hear the pain of the vandal, even if I know the vandalism must not replace a fairly good article, if I do say so myself. Article of the month – Alan Kulwicki, selected as a good article
Alan Dennis Kulwicki (December 14, 1954 – April 1, 1993), nicknamed "Special K" and the "Polish Prince", was an American NASCAR Winston Cup Series (now Sprint Cup Series) racecar driver. He started racing at local short tracks in Wisconsin before moving up to regional stock car touring series. Kulwicki arrived at NASCAR, the highest and most expensive level of stock car racing in the United States, with no sponsor, a limited budget, and only a racecar and a borrowed pickup truck. Despite starting with meager equipment and finances, he earned the 1986 NASCAR Rookie of the Year award over drivers racing for well-funded teams. After Kulwicki won his first race at Phoenix International Raceway, he debuted what would become his trademark "Polish Victory Lap". Kulwicki won the 1992 Winston Cup championship by what was then the closest margin in NASCAR history. He died early in 1993 in a light aircraft accident, and was unable to defend his championship. He has been inducted into numerous racing halls of fame and was named one of NASCAR's 50 Greatest Drivers. Kulwicki was known for being a perfectionist and doing things his own way. An engineer by trade, his scientific approach to NASCAR racing inspires the way teams are now run. Despite lucrative offers from top car owners, he insisted on driving for his own race team, AK Racing, during most of his NASCAR career. Described by his publicist as "a real hard type of person to get to know", he remained a bachelor throughout his life. Hey Wayne. How is it your HG is working? If you look at this discussion, you will see that some of us cannot read what is presented on the HG screen. Thanks! — SpikeToronto 18:03, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- My HG is working fine Spike, but I've been receiving a warning saying this: Huggle has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. Will you please let Huggle know about this message on the feedback page? Never mind. I told Huggle myself on the feedback page. Wayne Olajuwon chat 18:08, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- I was getting some problems yesterday when I tried to use HG to take back (i.e., revert) warnings. Instead of it working, like normal, it would crash. This issue is something different: it’s working, it just isn’t displaying properly. I think I’ll take a screen capture and upload it to the discussion. In the meantime, I wonder if we should go back to using version 0.9.7? Thanks! — SpikeToronto 18:59, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- Your welcome and if we should go to 0.9.9. Do you also think we should go to 0.9.9? Wayne Olajuwon chat 19:01, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- I don’t think there is a 0.9.9 yet. The reason I was suggesting going back to 0.9.7 is that I think it was the last one done by Gurch, whereas the latest one was done by Sidonuke, and it is his first version. The only thing is, if we went back to 0.9.7, we might not be able to use the IRC feed, and would have to use the other feed … I think. I still have 0.9.7 on my HDD; perhaps I’ll give it a try. — SpikeToronto 19:12, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- You could go back to 0.9.7 but I can't because I deleted my 0.9.7 file. Huggle is trying to make itself better and maybe that's why they made 0.9.8 in the first place. Wayne Olajuwon chat 19:16, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well, if you click on the link I provided above, the only change between 0.9.7 and 0.9.8 was the address for the IRC channel. As for 0.9.7, if you would like a copy, I can upload it to a third-party site on the Internet for you to download. Also, I wonder if this is a problem only on IE8? I think I might try and see if I am getting this 0.9.8 problem on another computer on which we are still running IE6 … Finally, I uploaded a screencap of the problem to the discussion with this edit. Thanks! — SpikeToronto 21:00, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- I would like a copy of 0.9.7 because I think it would work better. Wayne Olajuwon chat 21:04, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
To send you a copy I need an email address, any email address. SendSpace.com requires one. So, we have two choices:
- You can use the e-mail link in my user namespace and send me some/any email address you want; or
- You can tell me some other website I can upload to, where (a) your email address is not required, and (b) only you will be able to get the file since we do not have Wikipedia’s permission to distribute the program.
By the way, I realize that I was a dolt above: it is irrelevant what version of IE I’m running because HG runs indepedently of IE. It is essentially an alternate browser all its own. Doh! Thanks! — SpikeToronto 21:31, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- I tried to use my off-Wiki email address but it was never confirmed so I removed it. Wayne Olajuwon chat 21:34, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- Okay. I don’t get it. You mean if your address is not confirmed, the system will not let you send an email to me? Also, do you know of another website for uploading to that doesn’t require an email?
…I checked the download site and previous versions have been deleted from there…
…crap! I just tried 0.9.7 and while it connects to an IRC feed, it must not be the right one because it’s not picking up any recent changes. Drat! What a waste of time. Sorry if I got your hopes up. — SpikeToronto 22:43, 30 October 2010 (UTC)

- Yeah its not confirmed. No I don't know. Wayne Olajuwon chat 23:03, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well, since we’re stuck with 0.9.8 until it’s fixed, we’ll have to use it in conjunction with our web browser (IE in my case). That is, use your browser to view the diff and use HG to revert and warn. Good luck! — SpikeToronto 00:04, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- I know. Thanks and good luck too!
- 0.9.9 is available now. Go here. — SpikeToronto 03:51, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- I know. I'm using 0.9.9 now. Wayne Olajuwon chat 13:36, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
RfA ping
- Please pardon the intrusion. Your response at my RfA showed dissatisfaction with my answer to question #1; I believe question #17 may be relevant. Thank you for your time and trouble. • Ling.Nut (talk) 23:00, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- Question 17 is relevant. Wayne Olajuwon chat 23:04, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
solypsis
hey, all was doing was adding categories (like the page suggested i do) and now the solypsis entry is destroyed.
i added some external links (which are apparently prohibited) and that set off all these other warnings. now there's all kinds of junk at the top of the page that was never there before. i removed all external links, but now the page is simply ruined. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Delitist (talk • contribs) 01:16, 31 October 2010 (UTC)

I feel that you deserve this, even though you are the reason I haven't stopped many vandals lately as you keep on getting rid of the vandalism before I can process the words on the page =) WikiTome Talk 14:54, 31 October 2010 (UTC) |
Robert McNamara
Yo,
Seeing as it's halloween I just wanted to keep the occupation of "zombie slayer" on Robert McNamara's page for the day because of the new Call of Duty: Black Ops zombie mode where Robert McNamara is a playable character. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Clineb788 (talk • contribs) 19:44, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- You may redo that edit but please cite a reference. Wayne Olajuwon chat 20:02, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
Your recent revert
Thanks for your revert here, but I think the IP user was actually apologizing for a bad edit he made. Guoguo12--Talk-- 23:21, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- I know, but I didn't understand the second word that he put and I thought it was vandalism so that's why I reverted that edit. Wayne Olajuwon chat 23:23, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- It's okay. Thanks anyway and happy Halloween. :) Guoguo12--Talk-- 23:27, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- Happy Halloween, too. :) Wayne Olajuwon chat 23:29, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
