[edit]Strat list
[edit]Convo started here.Washburnmav (talk) 16:59, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
Sure, here's an example. "Ritchie Blackmore (born 1945), a founding member of both Deep Purple and Rainbow, currently a member of the band Blackmore's Night.[8]" That's a sentence fragment. It doesn't have a verb. Many of the entries start this way, and while I agree that this list is very uniquely formatted (and I must admit that this is my first FL review outside of the world of sports), I think that for this to be considered featured content, the sentence fragments need to be removed. I'll gladly work with you on this to get it up to par. It's very good work all round. KV5 • Squawk box • Fight on! 16:14, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, I see what you mean. I'm having trouble finding a way to make that grammatically correct, or add a verb. Could you make a suggestion for the Blackmore example? Then I could extrapolate that out to the other list entries. Thanks for helping with this again. Washburnmav (talk) 17:10, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- Example: "Ritchie Blackmore (born 1945) was a founding member of both Deep Purple and Rainbow, and is currently a member of the band Blackmore's Night.[8]"
- Hope this helps. KV5 • Squawk box • Fight on! 20:16, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

Sorry for the late reply
[edit]Sorry for the late reply. I have been travelling for work for the past week or so. Wow!! Look at the work you've done. Excellent job!. Thanks for all the cleanup. I have just read your stratocaster player FL nom. I think some off the comments were a bit nit-picky. I will comment later after I have a better review of what exactly has been said. If you can work the same magic on the Gibson player list, when you have the time that is, that would be great. I do not like the complaint about the Strat list entries starting out as a broken sentence. I think it reads better that way. Like a glossary. But that's my opinion. Some featured lists are just cold tables or boring formats. I think the Tele player list has some "life" to it. I didn't create the list formats originally. But because the Tele player list was so well received the others lists copied it. I will also comment on the Eric Clapton controversy section. I know the original history behind the editor who originally added the section and what his intent was when he added it. Again, thanks for all your hard work. Cheers and take care. Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 21:07, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- Don't mention it, I'm glad to help. I guess I will hold off on editing the Stratocaster list for grammar until you discuss it on WP:FLC. I agree with you, I think the list reads well as is, however I'm willing to do what it takes to get to Featured List status. Although it seems a little iffy that we have to change this one whereas it follows the formatting of the List of Telecaster players so precisely. But the references do need work, I'm still getting around to that... Keep me updated. Thanks. Washburnmav (talk) 22:40, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- I am sort of in/out for a day or two. The one thing, a very overdue thing, that I am focused on is adding a class to all of the un-assessed Guitarist project articles. I have been saying that for a month. It's a dauntless task. There are several hundred to be viewed and rated. And I end up reading and editing each one as I look at them. Many shouldn't be "guitarist" project articles at all so I have to "un-project" a few along the way. Plus I am trying to do "real" work on my other screen. I will try and come up with a good "plea our case" for list wording at some point. I would like to have other reviewers see the list as I/we do. As something different. I think it reads in a rather "conversational" style. As if it were being narrated. But getting others to see it that way, without looking 'whiny' is a stretch when I am doing 10 things at once. I promise I will add my 2c soon. Did you read my Clapton follow-up? Does it explain the section and support its validity?(as tough as that is for me) Anger22(Talk 2 22) 23:08, 28 August 2008 (UTC)
- That sounds good, I will be completely behind you when you find time for that discussion. I think both of those lists read well and the syntax definitely doesn't bother me, and I am a grammar stickler. I read and responded to your follow up. It was good, and I added to it. The user that raised the concern hasn't responded at all, so I don't think its a problem. I think we covered our bases pretty well for future complaints. Thanks again. Washburnmav (talk) 00:27, 29 August 2008 (UTC)
- After the user got knocked off their soapbox they never returned to Wikipedia. Thanks goodness. Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 00:50, 29 August 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism from this account
[edit]I understand that this account was recently hijacked, and then control was regained. Have you considered putting a SHA hash on your page to help combat stuff like this from happening? Have a nice day! :) Asenine 23:24, 30 August 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestion. I have seen those around but are only a little familiar with them. How might I go about setting one up and how would it help me? Washburnmav (talk) 23:54, 30 August 2008 (UTC)

- The list is up for FL and they said that i should fix that, The Ramblin Man kinda has power to not nominate articles even if they have more supports then opposes. So talk to The Ramblin Man about this not me cause i really liked your edits. --Be Black Hole Sun (talk) 11:36, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, I see that now. I fixed all the links that needed fixing, but Rambling Man has dumped more issues on us. Can you knock those out, I'm a little tired from my ref fixing. Washburnmav (talk) 16:54, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Well I guess I did "dump" issues on you both but they are issues that need to be solved, nevertheless. The Rambling Man (talk) 16:57, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- Lol sorry I didn't see you behind me. =) I didn't mean that in a negative way, I truly appreciate your help and have found all your suggestions pertinent and helpful. This is my first Featured article/list nom process and I am very impressed with how strict the standards are. I didn't mean to come off in a negative way. Washburnmav (talk) 17:00, 1 September 2008 (UTC)
- No worries. I have plenty of comments much more negative than that! Keep up the good work. The Rambling Man (talk) 17:09, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

vandlizing my page
[edit]Mr Washburnmav you vandalized my user page please tell me why cheers,Secthayrabe
- I did not vandalize your user page. I rmvd the userbox that falsely identifies you as a admin. That is very uncyclopedic and uncivil of you. I don't know why you wish to lie to other users in this manner. Please reconsider your actions to display a falsehood of this magnitude on your user page. Thank you. - It doesn't appear you are banned, and if you were it would make it difficult to have posted on my talk... Washburnmav (talk) 04:09, 5 September 2008 (UTC)
A quick visit to Wikipedia
[edit]I have been stuck in 'aluminum tubes' and stuffy airports all week. I commented at the Stratocaster player FL(sorry for being so overdue on that... I am probably too late to say anything meaningful to a conversation that ended last week.) Without looking like canvassing I could post a remark, just to say that it's there, on the project page. If it would make a difference. Not so much for support but at least to get some other commentary on it rather than just the same 4-5 people. Speaking of the project page perhaps you could lend an idea to this conversation[1]. I can expand content. But I am horrible at making it read "pretty." For Izzy's article citations are the key thing. Beyond 1 or 2 books about Fender amps (which I don't have) it's a hard subject to get references for other than what can be linked from Fender.com. Any thoughts. Back in a few days. Cheers and take care! Anger22 (Talk 2 22) 00:38, 8 September 2008 (UTC)

Copyedit request
[edit]Hi there.
I was wondering if you could take a look at The Scott Mills Show and give it a thorough copyedit. I have been working on it for a few days now and in the peer review, someone said it needs a copy edit. So I found you from the old wikiproject. Please, if you have time, can you take a look at it?
Thanks, TwentiethApril1986 (talk) 13:40, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Copyedit request
[edit]Hello, there. I am contacting you because you say you will consider copyediting requests. I was wondering if you would be interested in copyediting Highlander: The Series (season 2). It has recently undergone Peer Review and only a lack of copyediting is currently preventing it from going to FLC. It has already been half reviewed and the copyeditor left notes on the talk page, which you might find useful, should you take the job, which would be to complete the copyedit. Your time would be greatly appreciated. Have a merry Christmas, Rosenknospe (talk) 16:09, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
