hey, could you check out my user page? thanks!--A.a.p.cool (talk) 00:49, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Hi! Sorry, I am not an expert, and this is not my native language. Afaik both IQ tests and cranial capacity tests are unreliable; there is currently no reliable way to determine how intelligent someone is. There is, afaik, no correlation between weight or volume of the brain and intelligence in modern humans. Wasbeer 17:26, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Ritz-Carlton Hotel (Atlantic City)

Regarding Ritz-Carlton Hotel (Atlantic City) what was the question you were asking in the your edit summary? Djflem (talk) 19:37, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

When I put a couple of questionmarks in the editsummary it means "I am not 110% sure about this edit". That is why I asked you on your talkpage to take a look at my edit. Wasbeer 00:37, 27 June 2011 (UTC)

Completely new abortion proposal and mediation

In light of the seemingly endless disputes over their respective titles, a neutral mediator has crafted a proposal to rename the two major abortion articles (pro-life/anti-abortion movement, and pro-choice/abortion rights movement) to completely new names. The idea, which is located here, is currently open for opinions. As you have been a contributor in the past to at least one of the articles, your thoughts on the matter would be appreciated.

The hope is that, if a consensus can be reached on the article titles, the energy that has been spent debating the titles of the articles here and here can be better spent giving both articles some much needed improvement to their content. Please take some time to read the proposal and weigh in on the matter. Even if your opinion is simple indifference, that opinion would be valuable to have posted.

To avoid concerns that this notice might violate WP:CANVASS, this posting is being made to every non-anon editor who has edited either page (or either page's respective talk page) since 1 July 2010, irrespective of possible previous participation at the mediation page. HuskyHuskie (talk) 22:20, 4 July 2011 (UTC)

Hi HuskyHuskie! I reverted vandalism on that article. Good luck! Wasbeer 22:38, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
Understood. But you're welcome to provide input, if you're so inclined. HuskyHuskie (talk) 01:42, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
I pressed the 'Save page' button, but got into an edit conflict and lost the text I wrote (I was using a terrible browser). At that moment I saw the new messages banner, and opened my talkpage in a new tab window. Are you a mindreader? Wasbeer 01:50, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
As a matter of fact, I am. But that's not important now. When you have an edit conflict, do you ever try going back in your browser? I am always able to go back and find what I typed, copy it, and then reopen the page and paste it back in. Thanks for contributing! HuskyHuskie (talk) 02:29, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
Normally I would do the same thing, in Firefox 5. But this terrible browser I was using was so terrible it completely forgot the text I wrote so I had to write it again. By now you obviously know I am ashamed to admit I was using a virtual computer with an unpatched version of IE6 to test the fallback content in a webdesign and got distracted by Wikipedia. Wasbeer 02:49, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
I've had similar terrible experiences editing on an iPad. I'll never do it again. HuskyHuskie (talk) 04:11, 5 July 2011 (UTC)
I feel your pain. We should try to forget and move on with our lives, even though the experience of using a terrible browser will probably haunt us forever. Whenever I'll get flashbacks I try to pretend to be in my happy place. Wasbeer 12:42, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

Re: MediaWiki AFT discussion 'cancer' metaphor

Someone mentioned that the AFT is a cancer upon Wikipedia or some such. I think you said you are not from the US, if not I apologize for this misunderstanding. In United Stated English dialect, to call something a cancer is not considered offensive. It is a common metaphor for "something growing out of control". I have yet to meet anyone, affected by cancer or not, who finds that metaphor offensive. Cancer is basically cells growing out of control. I fail to see how in any culture that this metaphor could be seen as offensive. However, if I had to guess, I think your point would be that the metaphor minimizes the deadly and painful nature of cancer on it's human host, and I think we have some common ground if that is the case. Not constructive to water down what cancer really is. --TimL (talk) 07:57, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

I live in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Your guess is correct. Wasbeer 08:59, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

So what kind of secret code is this? ;P -- œ 02:47, 9 July 2011 (UTC)

What are you talking about? There is no secret code. I made it using text-image.com, a file called Black_cat_desktop_backgrounds.jpg that I found with Google images and a HTML to Wiki Converter. I reported you to WP:ANI, filed a case with the arbcom and notified Jimbo of your ungrounded accusation of using "secret code" and I demand an apology! Wasbeer 03:29, 9 July 2011 (UTC) Thanks! You have to join my secret cabal organisation first, then we can teach you the way to decrypt it. We have all kinds of secret codes & rituals and we even have our own barnstar (Cat Barnstar.png)! I reluctantly accept your apology, but don't let it happen again! Next time you feel the need to accuse someone of something, try accusing a minority. I recommend 'males' (they are a minority in Canada according to this list). Wasbeer 06:00, 9 July 2011 (UTC)
Hate to crash an inside joke, but this is a plainly readable dialect of the Martian language. It carefully lays out the details of their planned destruction of the human race. United States Presidential election 1832

I just wanted to tell you your colors for Wirt and Clay are mixed up they should be flip flopped. 11jskbuilder (talk) 03:19, 1 July 2011 (UTC)

Hello 11jskbuilder!
I fixed a couple of typos on that article, I am not the person who chose the colors. I think you may be right. I will try to find an expert who is willing to take a look. Thanks for letting me know! Wasbeer 17:25, 3 July 2011 (UTC)
According to Dcoetzee the color green represents the National Republican Party's colors. That is what makes it a bit confusing. Wasbeer 00:42, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

Formal mediation has been requested

The Mediation Committee has received a request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to "Opposition to the legalisation of abortion". As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation. Mediation is a voluntary process which resolves a dispute over article content by facilitation, consensus-building, and compromise among the involved editors. After reviewing the request page, the formal mediation policy, and the guide to formal mediation, please indicate in the "party agreement" section whether you agree to participate. Because requests must be responded to by the Mediation Committee within seven days, please respond to the request by December 3, 2011.

Discussion relating to the mediation request is welcome at the case talk page. Thank you.

Prisoner of Azkaban

Hi Wasbeer,

When you removed the italic text from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, that wasn't the only bit of vandalism that the previous edit had done: it also changed the publication date from 1999 to 2000. I've fixed it now, but I thought I'd just leave you a friendly reminder to check the article history before removing obvious vandalism. It's no big deal, we've all done it, and thanks for removing vandalism on Wikipedia. Princess Lirin (talk) 21:45, 1 September 2011 (UTC)

Hi. I was not removing "obvious vandalism", I was removing stray ''Italic text''-'s. Wasbeer 01:52, 2 September 2011 (UTC)

Office Hours

Hey Wasbeer/Archive 1! I'm just dropping you a message because you've commented on (or expressed an interest in) the Article Feedback Tool in the past. If you don't have any interest in it any more, ignore the rest of this message :).

If you do still have an interest or an opinion, good or bad, we're holding an office hours session tomorrow at 19:00 GMT/UTC in #wikimedia-office to discuss completely changing the system. In attendance will be myself, Howie Fung and Fabrice Florin. All perspectives, opinions and comments are welcome :).

I appreciate that not everyone can make it to that session - it's in work hours for most of North and South America, for example - so if you're interested in having another session at a more America-friendly time of day, leave me a message on my talkpage. I hope to see you there :). Regards, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 14:27, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Sorry not to see you at the session; the logs are here. In the meantime, the Foundation has started developing a new version of the tool which dispenses with the idea of "ratings", amongst other things. Take a look at WP:AFT5 and drop any comments, criticisms or suggestions you have on the talkpage - I'd be very grateful to hear your opinions. Thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 21:27, 28 October 2011 (UTC)

Hoi Wasbeer/K.! Hoe is het ermee? Tijd niet meer gesproken. Kom je nog wel eens op IRC of helemaal niet meer? Anyway, succes en het ga je goed. Trijnstel (talk) 20:19, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Hee Trijntje! Long time no see inderdaad.
