[edit]

There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing.

If you intend to make useful contributions about some topic other than your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. RickinBaltimore (talk) 18:38, 28 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Requested username:

Request reason:

Hi there - I am representative of Maven at General Motors. I am only attempting to propose edits via the Talk page knowing I am a potential conflict of interest. I made edits to the talk page, not to the page directly. The only change I made to the actual wikipedia page is the website URL, which is outdated. If I am not appropriately submitting changes for consideration as an editor with a conflict of interest, please let me know and I will adjust my approach. Trying to be as transparent as possible with the username, etc.

Decline reason:

It does look to me like you have been correctly abiding by WP:COI here. Thank you for that, many people do not. The only concern I have is with your username, which implies a 'role' account; see WP:USERNAME. Please pick a different username. Then I or another admin can double-check with the blocking admin and get you ready to go. Yamla (talk) 18:59, 28 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

New username submitted and accepted. WarrenTechCenter (talk) 13:06, 29 September 2017 (UTC)Does this suffice for being unblocked?

Decline reason:

This username is equally inappropriate, as it clearly refers to General Motors Technical Center. Yunshui  13:09, 29 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Based on the new username and the apparent willingness to abide by the conflict of interest policy, I'm removing the block. You do still need to do one more thing to ensure that you are in compliance with Wikipedia's Terms of Use, and that is to formally disclose your relationship with GM - the easiest way to do this is to create your userpage with the code {{paid|employer=[[Maven (car sharing)|Maven]]}} or similar (other options are available at Template:Paid). Once you have done that, you can continue editing. Yunshui  15:45, 2 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Templates

[edit]

Many thanks for using the talkpage rather than directly editing the article. Just a note, though: in order to get the requested edit template to work, you need to enclose it in double curly brackets, like this: {{Request edit}}. Otherwise the template won't be called. (For a little bit of explanation, see User:Yunshui/Templates for beginners). Yunshui  19:31, 26 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]
