Simple definition articles
[edit]Hello Wakari07! I've noticed that some of the articles you've created recently consist of little more than word definitions. For example Bahiraṅga and Antaraṅga. Per WP:NOT: "Wikipedia is not a dictionary, or a usage or jargon guide." If these articles can't be expanded with encyclopedic content, they should be moved to Wiktionary instead, which is designed specifically for word definition articles. Let me know if you have any questions about this. Cheers. Kaldari (talk) 06:04, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- They may look like stubs and simple definition articles, but they are concepts of certain philosophies. A student (of Yoga or a dravidian philosophy/religion or any consciousness science) may have good use for this reference at least as disambiguations or, at the very least, as redirects . While they may look as "little more than definitions" now and to the layman, i insist with the little argument i have, to note these (related) concept pairs: Bahiraṅga-Antaraṅga and Sabīja-Nirbīja as reference points rather than just as words. - Maybe the subject at the core of the two pairs mentioned, is Cetanā. Wakari07 (talk) 16:26, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- Will try to plant a bīja of this in WP:WikiProject Yoga one of these days. Oh my, I forgot: Thanks for your reply. Wakari07 (talk) 16:29, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- Maybe the subject at the core of the two pairs mentioned, is Cetanā. Wakari07 (talk) 16:26, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- Yes, I would encourage you to group these words under higher concepts that can be developed into full encyclopedia articles. Alternately, you can use the Wiktionary redirect template to create a soft redirect to Wiktionary. Wikipedia articles generally don't include sections like "Antonym", "Transliterations", or "Etymology", as they are supposed to be about broad concepts, not individual words (although there are exceptions). These sort of entries are perfectly suited to Wiktionary though. Kaldari (talk) 18:27, 17 September 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks again for the encouragement. I think the unified login works now, that helps ;) Wakari07 (talk) 18:33, 17 September 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of NIRAS (disambiguation)
[edit]A tag has been placed on NIRAS (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either
- disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
- disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. PamD 08:37, 13 April 2015 (UTC)

Whaling by japanese
[edit]the appropriate category for Japanese whaling would be "scandals and opinions". Therefore, it may be inappropriate for the news. Second possible match is "environment and ecology". Tech or science news should describe results or at least firm progress (experimental platform launch, for example), not the claims on progress commonly known to be false in case of Japanese whaling.
- Did put it in "Environment and ecology" as per your suggestion. Wakari07 (talk) 13:57, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

December 8, 2017 edits on the current events portal page
[edit]Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. Disruptive editing warning
[edit]You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Portal:Current events/2017 December 9. Myself, GWA88, (a bunch of numbers and letters), and Kiteinthewind have all independently reverted your edit. This counts as a four to one consensus that the news about how much TV Trump watches is not newsworthy. If you revert the page again, your edit will be construed as vandalism and you will be reported to an administrator. The burden of proof lies with the accuser, and in your initial accusation that this is a newsworthy event you have provided no proof and instead asked those who dispute the newsworthiness to prove it as not newsworthy (this is a logical fallacy). The Kip (talk) 20:11, 10 December 2017 (UTC)

[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Kadovar, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Darwin (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

"Autism" comment at ANI
[edit]I have to confess that I was put off by your comment on ANI that a disruptive editor was acting autistic. I think it undermines a spirit of constructive and harmonious editing. Can I ask that you avoid making similar comments in the future? Thanks. --Jprg1966 (talk) 19:25, 13 January 2018 (UTC)
- Honestly, that "editor" is an IP, nothing more than a machine that needs a boot if you wish. I am sincerely sorry to hurt the sensibilities in a way I certainly not intended. Certainly not meant to offend the autistic people. Indeed it is too much of a compliment for a bad machine to accuse it of human behaviour. Sorry again. Wakari07 (talk) 19:30, 13 January 2018 (UTC)
- Apology accepted. --Jprg1966 (talk) 19:33, 13 January 2018 (UTC)
January 16 2018 edits on the current events portal page
[edit]Please stop your disruptive editing.
- If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor, discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page, and seek consensus with them. [edit]Here are the sources on the subject: [1] Which ones would you consider open on her position? - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 17:47, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
- I suggest to, by omitting her reaction, imply that her position doesn't change and that she'd consider it ludicrous to even talk about it. Wakari07 (talk) 17:49, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
- Well the way the sources read... it looks like she declined the test. The reader can make their own judgement on what it means as there are two main reasons why this could be as talking points on both sides. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 17:52, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
- Interesting question and I'm *not meaning to disrupt* your work. But why don't you propose one of those sources? I don't know and am not really interested in where and how she said it (again) exactly, so I really didn't fathom that the real news is that she declines... I thought that news was made last Tuesday in the Berkshire Eagle, as reported by the Jezebel blog?
- Thank you for the process. IP solved it now i guess :-) Wakari07 (talk) 18:15, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry, but I'm not at all convinced by what I read in CNN so I changed it to 'talk around' because I read 'push back' and not a clear and simple rejection. As I see it, it's just that she uses the stage time offered by the Mass. paper to present her point. Strange show to watch for a non-American, simply talking next to each other. Wakari07 (talk) 18:21, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
- And I learned that she said it in NBC's Meet the Press. So that's notable, thanks again. Wakari07 (talk) 18:32, 12 March 2018 (UTC)
- Meaning, concludingly, that it would be news for me if she took up a challenge or said nasty things on the subject in public. Wakari07 (talk) 18:35, 12 March 2018 (UTC)

[edit]Hi, I prodded the article Bahiraṅga, because the Transwiki process is no longer operational. Twinkle refuses to send you a notification so here is a manual one. Prince of Thieves (talk) 21:11, 14 March 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks. Wakari07 (talk) 04:44, 15 March 2018 (UTC) Fixed. Wakari07 (talk) 20:39, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
The article Bahiraṅga has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Transwiki is deprecated, This is a dictionary definition rather than a encyclopedic topic. Fails WP:GNG and WP:DICTDEF.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Prince of Thieves (talk) 21:11, 14 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hi, you asked[2], and the thread is here: Wikipedia talk:Deletion policy#Transwiki. Prince of Thieves (talk) 20:39, 15 March 2018 (UTC)
- Transwiki is fixed. The term fits nicely in the "Category:Yoga" and among the 261 pages of "Category:Buddhist terminology". It can be seen as (part of) essential concepts used in source texts written in Sanskrit (the root language used for this lemma) and Pali and many other languages (eg. Hindi, Tibetan, Mandarin, Japanese, Burmese, Vietnamese, Thai, ...). Wakari07 (talk) 21:38, 15 March 2018 (UTC)

- If you are that experienced an edd as you claim above you should know what PA means in the context of Wikipedia, as you do not please read wp:NPA and wp:agf. As to what I am calling out 3 in which you accuse other users of being agents of governments and of censorship, this is a violation of AGF and no personal attacks. You comment on content not users motives or actions. This 4, in effect saying others users are trying to waste your time and effort (you could always walk away you know?). But the clinchers is this 5 where you say another users does not think (please do not play the innocent "but I did not say it I asked a question" card). If you carry on like this you will get taken to ANI, and there is no way you will not get as block. Stop commenting on others users on talk pages that are not about them.Slatersteven (talk) 13:51, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
- Well, sorry, my sending thanks to you was honest though. Wakari07 (talk) 13:54, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
Again, it does not matter what people off wiki think about us, only our policies and our consensus matters. Please do not soapbox about censorship or what the Russian war machine might think. Argue only from the point of view of policy, (Wikipedia's policy, not anyone elses) and only discus the subject under discussion, not linked or ancillary articles or subjects.Slatersteven (talk) 13:56, 7 April 2018 (UTC)

Hello, from the Portals WikiProject...
[edit]You are invited to join the effort to revitalize and improve the Portal system...
The Portals WikiProject was rebooted on April 17th, and is going strong. Fifty-nine editors have joined so far, with more joining daily.
We're having a blast, and excitement is high...
Our goal is to update, upgrade, and maintain portals.
In addition to working directly on portals, we are developing tools to make portals more dynamic (self-updating), and to make building and maintaining portals easier. We've finished two tools so far, with more to come. They are Template:Transclude lead excerpt and Template:Transclude random excerpt.
Discussions are underway about how to further upgrade portals, and what the portals of the future will be.
There are plenty of tasks (including WikiGnome tasks too).
With more to come.
We may even surprise ourselves and exceed all expectations. Who knows what we will be able to accomplish in what may become the biggest Wikicollaboration in years.
See ya at the WikiProject!
Sincerely, — The Transhumanist 23:45, 1 May 2018 (UTC)

[edit]The RfC discussion to eliminate portals was closed May 12, with the statement "There exists a strong consensus against deleting or even deprecating portals at this time." This was made possible because you and others came to the rescue. Thank you for speaking up.
By the way, the current issue of the Signpost features an article with interviews about the RfC and the Portals WikiProject.
I'd also like to let you know that the Portals WikiProject is working hard to make sure your support of portals was not in vain. Toward that end, we have been working diligently to innovate portals, while building, updating, upgrading, and maintaining them. The project has grown to 80 members so far, and has become a beehive of activity.
Our two main goals at this time are to automate portals (in terms of refreshing, rotating, and selecting content), and to develop a one-page model in order to make obsolete and eliminate most of the 150,000 subpages from the portal namespace by migrating their functions to the portal base pages, using technologies such as selective transclusion. Please feel free to join in on any of the many threads of development at the WikiProject's talk page, or just stop by to see how we are doing. If you have any questions about portals or portal development, that is the best place to ask them.
If you would like to keep abreast of developments on portals, keep in mind that the project's members receive updates on their talk pages. The updates are also posted here, for your convenience.
Again, we can't thank you enough for your support of portals, and we hope to make you proud of your decision. Sincerely, — The Transhumanist 18:04, 26 May 2018 (UTC)
P.S.: if you reply to this message, please ping me. Thank you. -TT
