Yes I saw the Der Spiegel article. However, the current figures are from equally reliable sources(Dawn and the BBC). Secondly the taliban are a guerilla force, therfore they fight in small units. Concentrating so many men in a small area would be contrary to all the rules of guerilla warfare. And lastly, if you look at the main article War in Afghanistan (2001–present), you will see that the total number of Taliban insurgents is in the 30-40,000 range(discounting TTP and other groups that operate mostly in Pakistan). It is highly unlikely that they would be able to, or wish to bring together all of their troops in one single place. The only possible conclusion is that Der Spiegel is mistaken, and that the figure that they cite refers to the whole of Afghanistan. Regards --Raoulduke47 (talk) 15:20, 23 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
