You uploaded a number of files which appear to be photographs of paintings taken at the Mullivaikal Muttram shrine. According to Wikipedia image use policy, these images violate the copyright of the painter. Merely taking a picture of an image does not constitute a new, original work which has its own copyright. The photo's copyright belongs to the creator of the painting, so you (unless you are the painter) do not have the right to release that image to public domain as you have done. If you cannot resolve this matter (i.e. if you cannot prove ownership, or prove that the painter has approved this release of copyright), the image will have to be deleted. February 2014

[edit]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload new images. However, it appears that one or more of the images you have recently uploaded or added to an article may fail our non-free image policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted image of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free image criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Ugog Nizdast (talk) 05:54, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use images

[edit]

Would you stop reverting everyone who tells you what you added is against policy? Like we've said before, the images which you keep adding are non-free and even if they weren't, they are disputable on that page. Undoing edits and asking "which one?" is considered disruptive, do not edit war...users can get blocked from editing for doing it. For the sake of answering your question, File:Thiruvarupa_cover.jpg, File:Pavanar.jpg, File:G._Nammalvar.jpg and File:Mylapore_Ponnuswamy_Sivaganam.jpg are all non-free. Do not revert again just because you disagree with the policy, read it at WP:NFC#UUI. If you any better reasoning you can post it on the article talk page, get consensus and then make the changes. -Ugog Nizdast (talk) 06:20, 3 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

File permission problem with File:Sivakumaran's Pic at Mullivaikkal art Gallery.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Sivakumaran's Pic at Mullivaikkal art Gallery.jpg, which you've attributed to Sivakumaran's Pic at Mullivaikkal art Gallery.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:40, 28 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Vaiko, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Thirumangalam (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Jim1138 (talk) 06:25, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
