Adding to Closed Thread

[edit]

I did not say that I would moderate the dispute about Hamid Arabnia. I said that there would not be moderated discussion of the dispute about Hamid Arabnia, both because there had been severe edit-warring, and because the article is proposed for deletion. You added text to a hatted thread, which is not permitted. Robert McClenon (talk) 02:44, 23 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry - I do/did not even know what "hatted thread" was and I know that I have a lot to learn about wiki editing. Thank you. Vivek-jones (talk) 02:49, 23 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A hatted section of an article is a section of an article that does not display initially but has a button to "show". You must have pressed the "show" button and then inserted your comments. It appears that you misread my comments as agreeing to moderate, when in fact I had said that we would not be moderating. A more important principle to learn about Wikipedia editing is that making the same edits repeatedly is edit-warring, and is not permitted. In particular, there is a rule known as 3RR that one may not make 3 or more reverts of an article within 24 hours. Both you and the other editor were to 11 reverts with 24 hours. Edit-warring often results in being blocked temporarily to stop the edit-warring. Robert McClenon (talk) 03:33, 23 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for the information. Yes, I did click on the "show" tab. In fact, I have started reading about wiki editing terminologies more and also the rules. Thank you and have a good weekend. Vivek-jones (talk) 03:42, 23 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Will you agree not to edit Hamid Arabnia for five days?

[edit]

Hello Vivek-Jones. My five days of protection on Hamid Arabnia may be an inconvenience for some people who are hoping to improve the article to save it from the proposed deletion. I'll lift the protection and let normal editing continue if you and the other party will promise not to edit the article for five days. (Other people will still be able to edit, just not you and User:MvH). This would still allow you to make proposals on the talk page during that period. Please reply here. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 15:34, 24 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Ed - thank you for the proposal. Please note that those who defame the character of others on the web, get high by doing so. They use half-truth, mistruth and downright untruth in various misleading contexts (I do have some knowledge about the whole concept and do a lot of reading on the subject). When faced with restrictions, unfortunately, often such people use the "ganging up" strategy by asking their friends/contacts/relatives to join the "fun" by being coached to post as third parties. I would not be at all surprised that MvH would do the same. wiki for BLP should have extra care. I just thought that I mention the above with the hope that you would watch the page. Therefore, I do promise that I will not post anything on the page you referred to for the period specified. Once again, thank you for your help in resolving the issue.
