Yes, my mistake, I was trying to be helpful to an editor who couldn't get the hang of the table and I didn't read the column headers. Whoops. Black Kite 00:41, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
Just a note mate that might be of use - the runners up of a Domestic cup do qualify for Europe if the winners are already in the Champions League or Europa League. Ie. Falkirk are now guaranteed a place in the Europa league in Scotland even if they end up losing the final to Rangers. --Simonski (talk) 16:46, 26 April 2009 (UTC)
- Have a look for example at the following link:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_cups/8015682.stm
- Note the caption under the picture "Falkirk are now assured of a first ever crack at European competition". I can't point you in the direction of any specific rule since I don't really know where to look but if you look it up yourself you will eventually find it I am sure. Its a long established rule in modern football that the cup runners up qualify for Europe if the cup winners are already qualified via their league placing. Hell, even check the Serie A 1998-99 season, at the bottom of the page - there was a playoff to determine who was 3rd in the cup because both finalists had already qualified for Europe via the league.
- I think what may be mixing you up man is that a number of the leagues wanted to abolish the runner up cup European entry rule, ie. Scotland, England - but Platini wants to maintain the importance of Domestic cups so rejected this suggestion. Hopefully you now believe me! Trust me I know for a fact it happens, I was hoping Juventus would get to the Coppa Italia final the other week because then my team would have been guaranteed a place in Europe!! --Simonski (talk) 14:59, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
- Just thinking also, you might be getting matters confused with the situation with League cups which they have in Scotland, England and a few other places, which are separate from the Domestic FA Cups that are also held in those countries. --Simonski (talk) 15:05, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Egypt v Australia
[edit]You're right about this match is up on FIFA website, which I found it strange as I live in Australia and follow the Socceroos and I haven't heard any annoucement that we will play Egypt in a friendly match. You can check the socceroos homepage now, there is no information about this match. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Viva69 (talk • contribs) 07:36, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
Yeah I looked at the FFA site yesterday and there is nothing there but the FFA are also notorious for delaying the release of information. Umarghdunno (talk) 08:01, 17 September 2015 (UTC)
It's not happening after all :)

Problem with your custom signature
[edit]You have a custom signature set in your account preferences. A change to Wikipedia's software has made your current custom signature incompatible with the software.
The problem: Your preferences are set to interpret your custom signature as wikitext. However, your current custom signature does not contain any wikitext.
The solutions: You can reset your signature to the default, or you can fix your signature.
- Solution 1: Reset your signature to the default:
- Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
- Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
- Remove anything in the Signature: text box. (It might already be empty.)
- Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page. (The red "Restore all default settings" button will reset all of your preference settings, not just the signature.)
- Solution 2: Fix your custom signature:
- Find the signature section in the first tab of Special:Preferences.
- Uncheck the box (☑︎→☐) that says "Treat the above as wiki markup."
- Click the blue "Save" button at the bottom of the page.
More information about custom signatures is available at Wikipedia:Signatures#Customizing how everyone sees your signature. If you have followed these instructions and still want help, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Signatures. 19:04, 3 September 2020 (UTC)
