Working out the details at Wikipedia:Today's article for improvement
[edit]The RFC for TAFI is nearing it's conclusion, and it's time to hammer out the details over at the project's talk page. There are several details of the project that would do well with wider input and participation, such as the article nomination and selection process, the amount and type of articles displayed, the implementation on the main page and other things. I would like to invite you to comment there if you continue to be interested in TAFI's development. --NickPenguin(contribs) 02:39, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
Need help to write an article in the Portal "Polymers"
[edit]Bonjour, I am Prof. Dr. Joseph Davidovits, a well known French chemist who developed a new new class of inorganic polymers, more precisely mineral polymers, coined "Geopolymer". I am well known in India, because this new polymer chemistry has profound implication in the potential development of sustainable materials for building and infrastructure. For example go to <http://www.geopolymer.org/news/photos-from-recent-geopolymer-events-in-india>. There already exist an article in Wikipedia, titled "Geopolymer", written by unknown people. It is so bad, so polemical and far away from the scientific reality, that our scientific community asked me to contact Wikipedia in order to either update it entirely, or better to erase it and write a new one. This was a decision taken at our last international conference and workshop, in France, last July 2012. Watch the video posted at the Geopolymer Institute internet site, at http://www.geopolymer.org/camp/gp-camp-2012 (it is the second video on the page: Special Keynote: geopolymer definition in ‘Wikipedia’ on the Internet.
For your information, my background is organic polymer chemistry and I made a total transfer from organic to mineral, i.e. from carbon-based to silicon-based chemistry, with the creation of the corresponding terminology. My article is finished. I guess I need strong help to "wikify" it and also to put it in the write portal , namely "polymer". The portal chemistry is too broad, whereas the portal Engineering, too restrictive to only one field of application.
Waiting for your comments at my e-mail address (below)

New image for WikiProject Polymers Banner?
[edit]Hi, I've cross-posted this (Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Polymers#Other_ideas) to your talk page, since you seem to be one of the few (only?) active members of Wikipedia:WikiProject Polymers. Since the thumbnail for the banner is slightly more visible than the one for the stub template, it may be worth coming up with something a bit more representative of polymers in general. When I hear 'polymer' the first thing that comes to mind is usually a gaussian chain (solvent considerations aside). I think having a rigid, un-minimized, isotactic, polymer as the banner image downplays both the dynamics and polydispersity that one usually associates with polymer chains. I'm pretty handy at coming up with publication quality figures (which is admittedly more challenging when it needs to fit into a box with the resolution of a postage stamp) so I may give it a shot later in the week if there are no objections. I should add that I don't really have the available time to be an active participant in a WikiProject at the moment, but I do have a few of the more relevant ones watchlist'ed. Hello Vanishchenu, Thank for explaining in detail your position on the Scarlett issue. Now, I understand it was not you, but Sunuraju who created the page and only used the negative news. As you know BBC is quite independant and neutral and so you can see its coverage of Scarlett Keeling. Guardian is another very respectble newspaper and so its coverage is fair. I think all of us (including me) have learnt from this and will give even more balanced wiki pages in the future. Am sorry if I said anything hurtful because I never meant to I only wanted no personal comments about murdered girl and her family. BBC, Guardian all she it was murder coverup. Regards
Wuser999 (talk) 14:04, 28 February 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for your kind reply. It was not by intention that the so called 'negative' news were used. Most of the results on a simple google search[1] are negative and it got included accidentally. Sunuraju is a great Wikipedian and have been improving Wikipedia the best as they can.
- I am sorry that I did not recognize the sensitivity of the material and did not look from a different angle to see how would it looks to a reader. As you said BBC and Guardian news reports appear to be more neutral.
- Yes, a good lesson was learnt from this. I will try to give extreme care to sensitive materials and will look them from different angles to see if there are are any controversial, biased or negative meanings in it. Thanks for your praiseworthy work on bringing the sensitive content of the article into attention. Kind regards.···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 14:38, 1 March 2013 (UTC)
Hi, I feel that you have put in specultion in the Keeling article which may be biased. I will be raising this with the Wikipedia Editors via HelpDesk and other forums. Regards Wuser999 (talk) 12:43, 2 March 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for informing me in advance. Per the above discussion, I used BBC and Guardian as the source. It is there that the police reports initially stated that the death resulted from accidental drowning caused due to drinking too much but the second postmortem result revealed that it was an assault. You are right that the second postmortem was insisted by her mother[2][3]. Thanks again···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 13:11, 2 March 2013 (UTC)
Sir, please be assured that it is not true that just because it is in a newspaper article, it is fit for a Wiki profile. Especially words that they thought she was 'drinking and so drowned'. What is appropriate is that second post morten showed the assault. If you look at the Delete Discussion at the top of the page for Keeling you will see that at least 65 percent feel that her bio should not be there. Majority feel there should be no Wiki Profile for this girl alone. This may change but this is the majority view at this point in time. In case of doubt, please do discuss with Senior Wikipedia Editors who can tell you what is Tabloid and what is appropriate for Wikipedia. You have already seen how much has been deleted by Senior Editors which was thought appropriate. Kind regards. Wuser999 (talk) 13:55, 2 March 2013 (UTC)

- There is also a rating for an article by WikiProjects on its talk page (as in Talk:Budapest Metro). See WP:WikiProject Council/Assessment FAQ for more on it. Happy editing! Regards.···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 20:31, 15 May 2013 (UTC)

Vagamon and Kurisumala
[edit]Dear friend, I saw on Wiki Commons that you have uploaded several photos taken at Vagamon (Kerala). Nice photos indeed! How is that there is no photo of the Kurisumala Ashram also in the hills of Vagamon? If you live in that area I would be happy to get one in order to illustrate the articles, on both the English and the French Wikipedia. Thanks. (fr:Kurisumala Ashram) --Zerged (talk) 17:19, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
- Hi! I am extremely sorry to disappoint you. Those images were taken while I went for a tour from college. Images of area near Kurisumala was taken while the bus stopped for a short lunch break. I live in the same state where the monastery is, but it at a considerable distance from that it will take a half day journey (I am from Alappuzha, the monastery is at Idukki). If everything goes right, I would get my two wheeler license within 2 months (I just passed 18 years :) and I hope I can go there in bike to take the photo.
- Thanks for your warm appreciation, but I am sorry to disappoint you. In fact, it was the first tour I ever went from my school/college; and the sole motivation for it was to take pictures for the Commons. It's an irony that I didn't get what was really wanted.···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 17:53, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
Disambiguation link notification for June 14
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of news channels in India, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page News 24 (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Polymer
[edit]Hi, I was looking at your recent edits to the polymer article where you added in the pronunciation. This was long overdue in an article with around a million hits/year, so thanks for adding it - but a polymer chemist I know flagged it for me as wrong (I don't read IPA!). He believes that the Wiktionary entry has it shown correctly. Could you confirm this, and perhaps fix the error? Thanks! Walkerma (talk) 06:56, 22 July 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Walkerma! It was actually inserted by an IP; I just fixed the format for it. Unfortunately, I too do not know IPA. Looking at Help:IPA for English, I think that your friend is correct. I am requesting a confirmation and some help from the Reference Desk.— Preceding unsigned comment added by ···Vanischenu「m/Talk」 on 16:51, 25 July 2013 (UTC). Signed on 18:43, 18 September 2013 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply! I'll be talking on Skype with him on Sunday, so I'll ask him to check before then. Many thanks, Walkerma (talk) 05:16, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Can you tell me what is written here? Ref: Vivekodayam. --Tito☸Dutta 15:47, 17 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hi! It is പ്രത്യൗഷധവിധിയും പ്രഥമചികിത്സയും: Prathyaushadhavidhiyum prathhamachikilsayum (Hindi transliteration:प्रत्यौषधाविधियुम प्रथमाचिकित्सयुम (all are short vowels, I used धा (in प्रत्यौषधाविधियुम) and मा (in प्रथमाचिकित्सयुम to denote that the inherent vowel अ is present) and would mean प्रत्यौषधविधि और प्रथमचिकित्सा ). Below it is the name of author: സി. ആർ. കേശവൻവൈദ്യർ - C. R. Kesavan Vaidyar. Prathyaushadham means antidote or remedy. Prathhamachikilsa means initial treatments or first aid. Hi, could you please help me translate this reference that was added in Vidya Balan's article regarding her place of birth: ജയചന്ദ്രൻ, എൻ (2 March 2014). "വാടാമുല്ല". മലയാള മനോരമ (in Malayalam). p. 17. Thanks. -- KRIMUK90 ✉ 19:17, 3 March 2014 (UTC)
- Dear KRIMUK90, I am extremely sorry for being this late (was unable to login to WP or check email). Here is the translation:
- Jayachandran, N. (2 March 2014). "Vadamulla". Malayala Manorama (in Malayalam). p. 17. "While preparing for the interview, Vidya set two conditions. My native place is not Ottappalam. It should be written as Puthur Poothamkurussy in Palakkad. Wikipedia has got it wrong. Manorama should correct it. A family photo with father and mother should be published."
- This interview, in Malayalam, is available here:[7]. So, Vidya Balan has told the interviewer that her native place is Poothamkurussy, Puthur. (The part about her familyphoto is her second request, and is unrelated to this.) Hope this helps. Sorry for being very late···Vanischenu (mc/talk) 20:11, 8 March 2014 (UTC)
- No problem at all. Thank you so much for translating this for me. :) But does Manorama publish English translations of their interviews? It will be very helpful to have one. Thanks again. :) -- KRIMUK90 ✉ 05:20, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks. Although they have an English version[8], unfortunately, it seems that they do not have translations of these interviews in it. (There are several interviews on filmstars[9] and singers[10], but all are in Malayalam ): ···Vanischenu (mc/talk) 13:58, 9 March 2014 (UTC)
- No issues. Thanks a lot for your help buddy. Much appreciated. :) -- KRIMUK90 ✉ 03:31, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

[edit]... I was preparing this article and suddenly it reminded you. How are you doing these days? --Tito☸Dutta 22:45, 1 April 2014 (UTC)

[edit]Hey man, u need to stop reverting the changes made to Chiellini article. It's just for fun. Everyone is in the World Cup mood. It's just intended as a joke. Lighten up, please. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Boredmanunitedfan (talk • contribs) 18:17, 26 June 2014 (UTC)
Alright I won't do it again, but I have to strictly disagree on whether or not people find it amusing because it's all subjective. It's all in the context, buddy. The article I edited was about a footballer who is now under intense media attention due to certain events that has has happening lately. The edits I made was just to mock a footballer named Suarez who is universally hated by football supporters except from a very small section and he is under media scrutiny lately. Mocking him and what he represent is generally amusing to many. That's why I made the edits, OK? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Boredmanunitedfan (talk • contribs) 18:33, 26 June 2014 (UTC)

[edit]I found your suggestions about {{Closed access}} and {{Subscription required}}(subscription required) templates and associated links to other templates very helpful and I will be using them as I clean up bare URLs to qualify the nature of the references, where applicable. - Thank you too! In fact, I came to know about those templates only a few days ago. But Gadget850's suggestion was more helpful than mine when you convert bareurls into citation templates.
{{citeweb|title=title|registration=yes}}
gives "title".{{cite web}}

ignored (|url-access=
suggested) (help) Cool! Thanks and regards···Vanischenu (mc/talk) 14:35, 28 June 2014 (UTC)
