License tagging for File:2010Jul8-JugglersAB.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:2010Jul8-JugglersAB.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.
For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 06:06, 21 October 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Donald I. "Sarge" Boyd
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Donald I. "Sarge" Boyd requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. ~dee(talk?) 18:39, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
- Hi. An article needs to have more than just a picture and a caption. See WP:STUB for minimum standards, and WP:Your first article and WP:Writing better articles for good general advice. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 19:18, 22 October 2010 (UTC)
File copyright problem with File:2010Aug5-EdThompson@SargeBoydBandshell.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:2010Aug5-EdThompson@SargeBoydBandshell.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. ww2censor (talk) 03:39, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
What year?
[edit]What year did you take this photo File:SargeBoydAB.jpg? It looks like it was copied from a book or newspaper, so it is not your own work. Who took it? ww2censor (talk) 03:44, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
- You never answered this question. ww2censor (talk) 15:15, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
Article layout
[edit]This layout is really very unattractive because the images intrude in to the section headers. Left handed images only look good when there is enough text for the image not to intrude into previous or next headers. ww2censor (talk) 15:15, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
No need for hangon tag
[edit]I have removed the "hangon" tag you placed - that is only required if an article is proposed for speedy deletion, and at present this article is not. The "maintenance templates" at the top are not a threat of deletion; they are suggestions for improvement, and add the article to lists which may encourage other editors to come and help. File permission problem with File:ECMB-Audience2009ByVernBarber.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:ECMB-Audience2009ByVernBarber.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Diannaa (Talk) 22:35, 16 March 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Please note that photos are not categorized in the topic categories for the things that the photos happen to depict; they only go in categories that are meant for images themselves. That is, File:BlueBandshellPPTbyVernBarber.jpg belongs in Category:Images of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Category:Images of musical groups; it does not go in Category:Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Category:Cities in Wisconsin, Category:Entertainment or Category:Culture, or any other category that's meant for articles. Temple of Free Masonry
[edit]I've reverted your changes, and will explain on Talk:Temple of Free Masonry. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 14:38, 13 April 2011 (UTC)
- When an article already exists on a topic, rather than copying the text across and violating the WP:GFDL, you should start a WP:Requested moves discussion. I have replaced the information at Eau Claire Masonic Center with a redirect to the existing article at Temple of Free Masonry -- if you wish to start an RM discussion on the talkpage there, feel free. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 17:14, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
I should tell you I just mentioned you over at WP:AN/I, but it was peripheral to another issue and doesn't require your interaction. Just wanted to let you know it was there. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 16:55, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
- I see that you edited the article to indicate that the building is known locally as the Masonic Center. Could you please participate in the "requested move" discussion at Talk:Temple of Free Masonry? (That's how we deal with naming issues at Wikipedia.) --Orlady (talk) 01:00, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:2010July22-TimKoehlerAB2-crpped-byVernBarber edited-1.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:2010July22-TimKoehlerAB2-crpped-byVernBarber edited-1.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.
If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.
Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 23:18, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

[edit]Per WP:Galleries, I just trimmed a bunch of those pictures out. Each image should have encyclopedic value, and pictures of cars aren't obviously related to the ECMB. Please review the gallery guidelines and see if it would be suitable to remove any more of them -- I'm particularly unsure about the soloists when you can't see the band in the background.--SarekOfVulcan (talk) 04:41, 12 January 2012 (UTC)

Child Photo Advisory
[edit]Your recent upload of File:Kiddie parade at Owen Park in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.jpg is noted. Whilst Wikipedia accepts a vast range of media, you are urged to consider if you really do want this image to be present on a public site, where it could be used for many purposes over which you, the subjects of the photo, their parents or guardians may have little control.
It is also strongly suggested that your confirm your relationship with the photo subjects and their guardians in an appropriate manner with a suitable administrator. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:43, 13 June 2013 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on File:1954 Corvette on stage in Eau Claire's Owen Park.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Ronhjones (Talk) 19:17, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
- I am wondering how this image is a "blatant violation" of copyright laws when I am the one who created it. Villwock (talk) 22:19, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
- The image was found on http://www.eauclairemunicipalband.org/, which the original nominator forgot to state. We would need an email submitted to permissions-en at wikimedia dot org indicating that either they own the image and are willing to release it under a free license, or that they got the image from you to use on their website and that you still hold the original copyright. Wikipedia:Donating_copyrighted_materials#Granting_us_permission_to_copy_material_already_online has more information about what we require as permission and who to submit a letter to. If you still have questions, you can ask them here, and I'll do my best to respond. Harryboyles 14:58, 22 June 2013 (UTC)
Please do not uploaded files that are already here - it causes much confusion when checking for copyright violations (which is is - as it's an non-attributed copy) - it was already at File:ECMB-2011KiddieParade1aByVernBarber.jpg Ronhjones (Talk) 19:55, 16 June 2013 (UTC)
