Additions to Aging in Japan[edit] [Additions to Government Policies]

Immigration is very unpopular in Japan because the government favored homogeneity throughout their country. However, immigration might save their economy due to the low percentage of the working-age population. Opening up more desired, favorable jobs will bring in immigrants who are in the working-age population. This will help better the economy and the elders will be taken care of by the influx of immigrants. Only two percent of the total population is made up of foreign residents which shows that there might not be much opportunities for foreigners to thrive. Immigrants would have to increase by eight percent, in order for Japan's economy to be stable. Japan's government is first increasing tourism which increases their economy and brings in foreign workers. The government has also recruited international students which allow foreigners to begin work and potentially stay in Japan to help the economy. However, Japan is strict when accepting refugees into their country. Only 27 people out of 7,500 refugee applicants were granted into Japan in 2015. Though, Japan provides high levels of foreign and humanitarian aid. [1]

1. I really like how precise and detailed your article section is!

2. Something to add in your article would be the definition of homogeneity. There could be some people that read this that wouldn't know it means being all the same, or the same kind. Also, you could add their demographic situation as to why they have a low percentage in the working-age population.

3. A way to add more to this article is by putting Japan's history with refugees and why they don't allow many into Japan. Or even adding how they could make changes to better improve their system to allow more refugees in.

4. I overall enjoyed reading your article section. You made it concise and to the point! I believe you have a really strong, well put together article.

Thank you for your advice! I will start to add more to the article about the history of refugees and the definition of homogeneity! This helped a lot! Victoriali2 (talk) 04:17, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review

[edit]

I found your plan for a peer review and additions helpful however I would use more of your proposed sources. In the piece, you only directly referenced a single source. Additionally, I would avoid making blanket statements. There is a blanket statement about the tourism work Japan is doing which feels out of place and somewhat generalized. Otherwise, great direction for your contribution to this Wikipedia article. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Srobinson00 (talkcontribs) 05:25, 3 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your advice! I will add more information from different sources! Victoriali2 (talk) 04:19, 4 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
