Welcome!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Verbose~enwiki! My name is Ryan, aka Acetic Acid. I noticed that you were new and haven't received any messages yet. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it uses different formatting than other sites that use HTML and CSS. In the long run, though, you'll find that the WikiSyntax is a lot easier and faster than those other ways. Here are a few links to get you started:

There are a lot of policies and guides to read, but I highly recommend reading over those first. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Please be sure to sign your name on Talk using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, along with a link to your user page. This way, others know when you left a message and how to find you. It's easier than having to type out your name, right? :)

I hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. We can use all the help we can get! Have a nice day. Sincerely, Ryan. 15:32, August 1, 2005 (UTC)

You're welcome. Now that I think of it: you've already got a ton of edits under your belt. You probably don't ever need those links. :P Ryan 20:28, August 4, 2005 (UTC)

ey[edit]

slow down man. do you have Aol instant messenger? I'd like to talk this out. I think that the backlash against disco conception is POV'd. Let's talk this out and come to a compromise before further editing. I won't edit again, please don't edit yourself, the section will be back, don't worry.--Urthogie 22:04, 30 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Taxi Driver[edit]

How is this movie connected to akimbo? Sorry, I haven't watched it... --Koveras 10:59, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mr. Roboto[edit]

On Mr. Roboto, you added several See Also items however there is no obvious relevance to the article. If you are claiming that the song was played in those movies, then please mention that after the link, rather than only linking to that movie. -- Bovineone 16:51, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed the See also section that you added. If you wish to reference those movies, then please cite them in the established list and style that already exists on the page. -- Bovineone 04:21, 25 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Speedracer flowmo.gif)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Speedracer flowmo.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 19:10, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:Steamboy044.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Steamboy044.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 17:00, 2 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
