I undid your edit as you did not insert a space between senteces, did not capitalize the first letter of the sentence, and most importatly, did not wp:cite your source. Thank you Jim1138 (talk) 03:11, 15 June 2013 (UTC)
I made an edit to your posting, not all correction officer's carry firearms, they first need to be authorized by the dept to carry a firearm on or off-duty and second approved by a supervisor above the rank warden or commanding officer.
Your information on the dept of corrections is wrong and misleading, your posting that the dept of correction has to obey by a federal firearm standards is totally incorrect. Edit to this page will continue.

Citing sources
[edit]Please start adding references to your edits. Especially if your changes contradict was was written before. You really should read and understand the following: wp:Verifiability, wp:Reliable sources, and wp:Cite. These are fundamental policy of Wikipedia. I accept that you are an expert on NY DOC. Other people may question what you said and will want to see it from the source (i.e. NY DOC rules). Others will be editing your edits, and people will want to straighten up the resulting mess. If there is no reference to go on, it can be very difficult to fix and may be removed altogether. By adding sources, your edits will have a much longer life. If you were Albert Einstein editing Special relativity, (Einstein's relativity is one of the most robust and respected scientific theories ever), you would be expected to add sources. If your source is the New York City Department of Correction manual, please cite it, preferably with a page number. Something like <ref>{{cite book | title= Rules and regulations | date= May 15, 2003 | publisher= New York Department of Corrections | page= 123 }}</ref>. It will generate something like "1. ^ Rules and regulations. New York Department of Corrections. May 15, 2003. p. 123." at the bottom of the page in the "references" section. Put it to the right of the statement you wish to support. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a note on my talk page Happy editing Jim1138 (talk) 23:30, 20 June 2013 (UTC)
New York Department of Corrections
[edit]Hello Vera596 i am writing to inform you that your postings on nyc dept of correction is inaccurate. 1. Not all correction officers carry a firearm on + off duty, for off-duty carry the officers needs approval from a warden or commanding officers. 2. You posted that correction officers must be firearm qualified as per federal and state statue, please explain this statue. 3. look at the nypd firearms qualifications information, police officers must qualify and remain qualified for firearms usage and possession as a condition of employment for the duration of your career. The ability to qualify, and remain qualified. in the use of firearms, is essential for police service positions. Firearms qualification test will be administrated semi annually, failure to qualify and remain qualified for firearms usage and possession may result in termination. This is not the same for correction officer, they can be employed without a firearm. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mr Johnson SI (talk • contribs)
Citing sources
[edit]Per Wikipedia policy (please read), it is your responsibility to add sources for your edits to the article. These should be added with the edit when you make it. It is not my (nor anyone elses) responsibility to add them to your edits for you. Please do so. Unsourced edits may be removed. That is the primary reason others are removing your edits. Wikipedia administrators do wp:block people for not supplying sources. Please add sources to your edits. The sources should be written in a way that others know where to find the information.
