[edit]Please do not add or change content, as you did at Gay Times, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. The material you're adding is heavily promotional; even a more neutral version must be sourced to secondary sources, not the primary ones you are using. Bbb23 (talk) 21:27, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, Bbb23. I reviewed Wikipedia's guidelines regarding reliable sources and citing sources and I believe I am following the guidelines in terms of the edits I am now making to the Gay Times page. I have added inline citations from multiple sources, which were already cited within the Wikipedia page as well as other sources. Regarding the edit I made from 12-08-2024 I am not sure why these edits were reverted. If you could please explain what part of my edits did not agree with the Wikipedia guidelines that would be greatly appreciated. VelvetVortex8472 (talk) 15:29, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, VelvetVortex8472. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Gay Times, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Bbb23 (talk) 21:27, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, Bbb23. Thank you for reminding me of the terms of use and explaining why you reverted my edits on the Gay Times page! However, I do not have a conflict of interest or an external relationship with any part of the topic I have written about. I have read Wikipedia's source guidelines and I am unsure why some of the sources I have used were flagged because some of them were already cited on the Gay Times page. - You're correct about the existing sources. Most of the page is an advertisement and cited to primary sources. The article should be rewritten, if possible, to comply with Wikipedia policy. If not possible, much of the material should be removed. Adding more material cited to the same sources is unacceptable.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:53, 2 December 2024 (UTC)
