Chugach National Forest

[edit]

Just a few things:

  • The map doesn't show whatever acreage the forest has on Kodiak Island, even though it appears to amount to less than four square miles. Is that important enough to note? And was it part of the original forest? It wouldn't make sense to me that it would. There were a lot of funny land swaps going on over many years.
  • I can't think of a source for the original acreage amount and its decrease over the years. I do know that large portions of land currently populated by that big city with its big wild life or whatever were originally part of the forest. There are sources pointing to the fact that Joe Spenard was squatting on forest lands, illegally logging and what not.
  • Speaking of logging, this photo shows that it was occurring in 1974. Other sources mention more active logging in the first ten or twenty years of the forest's existence. No mention of what role if any logging played is found in the article.RadioKAOS (talk) 10:22, 5 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
