Done. You're getting better ... it ain't easy! Graham87 13:26, 28 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Regarding the source, it'd be far better to use the original Paralympian magazine article (PDF). Graham87 03:10, 30 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've gone through it, but it needs at the very least a birth year, if possible. The use of the Hansard as a source in this case is fine. Graham87 01:06, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Happy Halloween!

[edit]
Sp33dyphil has given you some caramel and a candy apple! Caramel and candy-coated apples are fun Halloween treats, and promote WikiLove on Halloween. Hopefully these have made your Halloween (and the proceeding days) much sweeter. Happy Halloween!

If Trick-or-treaters come your way, add {{subst:Halloween apples}} to their talkpage with a spoooooky message!

Thanks for the invite, Laura!

God, Qantas and my wife willing, I'll be in New Zealand on that date. But you go ahead and have a good time without me, OK?

--07:37, 31 October 2011 (UTC)

That was Skyring above. Anyway I will try to make it! If you are doing all the inviting, I have a list of more local people in User:Graeme Bartlett/Canberra invitees as well as Category:Wikipedians in the Australian Capital Territory. Graeme Bartlett (talk) 09:13, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the first. :) I used the category to find most people that I pinged today. :) (I've also requested a Geonotice.) --LauraHale (talk) 11:07, 31 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Will do my best to come ... it's not a very central location really. Past meetups have tended to be in the central area. No complaints though, since at least you are doing something! Will see what I can do ... have not been particularly active of late but did, some months ago, give a little talk to some NLA users on contributing to Wikipedia. Not sure it achieved anything though. Hi Laura, it is good to meet another gurl editor! I wish that there were more of us. I've written or mostly written 3 articles: Gandy dancer, Yodeling, and Granite, Colorado. Re: Monster DYK single nomination

[edit]

Hi Laura, all Done. Try to remember to put birthdates and birth categories in their appropriate places. Also, I don't think it's a good idea to have them all on the same DYK ... that part of the Main Page should always have a variety of articles on it. Graham87 04:39, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OK, that sounds alright. Graham87 04:43, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

GOCE November 2011 backlog drive invitation

[edit]
Invitation from the Guild of Copy Editors

The Guild of Copy Editors invites you to participate in their November 2011 Backlog elimination drive, a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy edit backlog. The drive begins on November 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and ends on November 30 at 23:59 (UTC). We will be tracking the number of 2010 articles (and specifically will be targeting the oldest three months), as we want to copy edit as many of these as possible. Barnstars will be awarded to anyone who copy edits more than 4,000 words, and special awards will be given to the top 5 in the following categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words". We hope to see you there! – Your drive coordinators: Diannaa, Chaosdruid, The Utahraptor, Slon02, and SMasters.

Re: Jessica Gallagher

[edit]

Sure thing, will do. I've just done my very own article expansion, so I'm a bit "articled out" at the moment. I'll work on your page tomorrow, as you said. Graham87 11:29, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not too concerned about GA's or anything like that, so I tend to stay away from those areas. As long as the article is comprehensive and is well-formatted, I'm happy. I think that's basically what GA reviewers want, but they can be rather strict about it.
Thanks for your nice comments about my article expantion! I almost never listen to TV or movies – not just due to blindness, but I have trouble following plots as well – so I'm more interested in Clarke's career as a musician, and his general life story. Graham87 11:53, 8 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I've finally copyedited the Jessica Gallagher article. Graham87 10:04, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks to you and others for working on this. But, if I may ask, why was soccer dropped from the hook? The only strength the hook had was the quadruple alliteration on the letter s. Initially, I had "sex" in there as well, but couldn't verify to English speakers that "'s Nachts na Tweeen" is a song about fucking. If you could replace that cumbersome FIFA thing with "soccer", that would be great. Thank you kindly, 66.168.247.159 (talk) 06:30, 15 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Taking you up on your kind offer

[edit]

Hi Laura;

I am definitely in need of some assistance in creating a Wikipedia page as part of a classroom project. I've never created or edited a page before which is making it difficult to lead the students. It was disheartening to have their first effort deleted, and I'd like to get all the ducks in a row for the next edit so it doesn't happen again.

Thanks! Kgoodale (talk) 19:40, 16 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Big Brother Australia 2012

[edit]

Hey Laura,

In relation to your vote on Big Brother Australia 2012, we really appreciated the vote to keep. Your reasoning to change it to a vote to delete is OK, but you said it was because of this quote: Blake was eager to dissolve one myth: 'We are talking to Channel Nine about next year and as much as I would like to joke about us definitely doing Big Brother, we're definitely not.' This quote confirms that Hamish & Andy are NOT going to host the show, but it does not mean Nine are not doing the show. Please reconsider your vote, I would appreciate it greatly! Bbmaniac (talk) 23:02, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Re: I know how you love mass DYK noms...

[edit]

I'm not often into merging articles, but these pages seem like prime candidates ... how about making two umbrella articles like classification of wheelchair basketball players and classification of Paralympic swimmers and putting all the unique text in there? It would save readers from having to read the same text (i.e. the "History" section and others) many times. Graham87 10:08, 18 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Question about your request at User talk:DodoBot/Requests

[edit]

Hello. Sorry for bothering you, but I was wondering if you still want me to run the request you made. I've been quite inactive in the past few months, and just starting now to run the requests. Also, I notice that the assessment template has a few issues with the quality scale, do you mind if I fix it before doing the tagging? - EdoDodo talk 11:56, 19 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please fix. And yes, would still like it if possible. Will make a point of working on the project more soon. --LauraHale (talk) 20:27, 20 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, I've fixed the template and created the necessary categories for you. I'm having the bot start on the request now. Apologies once again for not doing this sooner. - EdoDodo talk 04:24, 21 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There was about 8 or 9 of us there. It was so noisy that we could not have a meaningful whole group discussion. It was too wet to sit outside. But what I did manage to hear: Several people working on WP:DYK, at least half of the users were in the top 1000 for creating articles. There could be some pictures, but hopefully not to be made public! Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:32, 28 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the invite! Sadly, there's no chance that I will be able to make it over to Australia in February, pleasant as it would be.
