Speedy deletion nomination of Alice T Days
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Alice T Days requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. reddogsix (talk) 03:42, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
Copyrighted material
[edit]Please do not re-add copyrighted material. I've asked you not to do this several times and explained why you should not do this on the talk page. This is seen as theft on Wikipedia and can lead to you being blocked from editing. Please do not re-add the material or I will be forced to give you a temporary block from editing. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:05, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to block you temporarily for 24 hours. Almost all of the article is copyrighted from one place or another. I will also be reporting this to your professor. You CANNOT post content from somewhere else and pass it off as your own work. It MUST be re-written in your own words without being paraphrased. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:08, 29 September 2015 (UTC)
- You also cannot copy the material and then list a source - this does not remove the fact that the material is still copyrighted and you are still using someone else's work as your own. All material needs to be re-written in your own words prior to posting it on Wikipedia. Tokyogirl79 (。◕‿◕。) 05:18, 29 September 2015 (UTC)

[edit]Copyright violations
[edit]Please be more careful with your editing. I have already blocked you once for reposting copyrighted information to Wikipedia and if you continue to repost material taken from other websites I will be forced to issue another block. I've deleted the sandbox article as a repost of the article in the mainspace and for having copyright issues. I'm not going to delete the article history from the draft or the mainspace article that contains copyvio since I know that you need this to show participation in the course. Please don't revert and make it necessary for it to be removed.
You reposted Alice T Days to the mainspace despite my requests that you work on it in the draftspace first. Your version of the article contained copyright violations and one section had only minor differences from the biography on this page. Closely paraphrasing something is still considered to be a copyright violation. You also lifted quite heavily from her staff bio. These were issues in the prior version of this page, which is why Reddogsix removed them.
You need to write things in your own words and you need to research everything before you submit it to the mainspace. I had to remove several of the awards because the film either didn't win them or there was no place that verified their win. This is why you should not stop at just the primary sources. While few primary sources are written with the intent to mislead the reader, many are vague or represent themselves in certain way in order to make themselves look as good as possible. It's very common for people to list award nominations with award wins and even leave out which were the nominees or winners. There's nothing wrong with doing that. However at the same time as a researcher you need to question everything that you see posted on an official website because there is so much that is left out. This is something that will become vital in your everyday life as well, regardless of what you are studying. Handing in a professional work that is heavily taken from someone else's material and potentially filled with errors because you did not perform in-depth research can make the difference between getting/keeping a job and getting passed over. The same thing goes for classes if you hand in a paper with similar issues.
I understand that you are doing this for a grade and that part of the requirement is that you have an article in the mainspace. However at the same time reposting material deemed unsuitable for Wikipedia is not going to help you. Please do not repost the content on the article like you did on the draft version, as this will be removed. I've re-written the article to remove the worst of the promotional tones and copyrighted materials, plus I've also added sourcing to show Days's notability.
Long story short, in the future please do not repost copyrighted material or base your work entirely on primary sources. I know that this all sounds harsh and intimidating, but all of this was done in an attempt to help you rather than hinder you. There's always help on Wikipedia if you're willing to ask for it and if you feel stuck, then all you need to do is ask, either one of the editors on here or your professor herself. Alice T. Days
[edit]Hey, I'm editing your article for our assignment. I made a couple syntactical changes just to make the article flow better. I did not rearrange anything, but I broke a couple sentences up into multiple sentences so they read better. I would also recommend adding a filmography section to the page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rosandguil (talk • contribs) 18:53, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
File copyright problem with File:Aboutthefilmmakers-Days.jpg
[edit]Thank you for uploading File:Aboutthefilmmakers-Days.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright and licensing status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can verify that it has an acceptable license status and a verifiable source. Please add this information by editing the image description page. You may refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Eeekster (talk) 01:43, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
