The FOI request lists him as UUP. Its very possible that he was elected as vanguard and defected shortly thereafter.Traditional unionist (talk) 09:56, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for spotting my mistaken de-linking - I thought I'd linked him originally for some reason, but I just couldn't remember what! Warofdreams talk 18:33, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

Spanish election table

OK, first the bad news: I don't know of any way to have a sortable wikitable which works correctly and uses colspan at all.

Now, the better news: everything else is possible! I've added some examples to the table below. To set identical widths, you should specify these for the headers, either as a value or as a percentage. I've used width=100 as an example for the second and third columns. You can change almost any aspect of the cell's appearance; I've used wiki markup for a subtle effect for the header of column six, and a red background for something unmissable but a little difficult to read for the header of column seven. Finally, the quickest way I know of to right-align your values is to add align="right" to the row header. I've done this for the first row of values, then set the electoral district field to align left. All this is as an example, but I hope some of it is useful to you. You can find more details at Help:Table and Help:Sorting, and I'll be happy to answer any further queries. Warofdreams talk 21:03, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Vanguard images

Hi - good work on the article. You're right that the images on that site appear to be taken from elsewhere on the web. The book cover is from CAIN, at [1]. The logo on its front cover appears to be the one generally used by Vanguard - at least circa 1972, so it would seem fair to me for us to use a cropped version of the cover, showing just the logo, for illustrative purposes only. The other images would be difficult to justify under fair use provisions, and will certainly be copyrighted (although I have no idea who might own the copyright - perhaps Craig personally, or maybe the UUP?) Warofdreams talk 01:44, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

I'd be astounded if it were the UUP. The Party doesn't exist - I'm not big on IP law, so I have no idea where that leavs it.Traditional unionist (talk) 09:54, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Political Parties..?

A (very) draft discussion on the policy on political parties has been started by me here - User:Doktorbuk/pp. If you can assist with this discussion, or know how to help me get this policy looked at, advanced, and accepted by the larger Wiki community, please let me know. Many thanks doktorb wordsdeeds 19:39, 29 May 2008 (UTC)

Follow Up

Follow up to the political parties policy debate, I have updated the page User:Doktorbuk/pp for your comment. Cheers doktorb wordsdeeds 11:46, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

A few issues

Hi -

Firstly, I've moved the pages. Don't forget that - particularly in uncontroversial cases such as these - you can move the pages yourself, unless an article or redirect already exists under the new name, or the page is protected from moves.

The table shows the rather complicated sorting properties of tables in wiki markup, and does sort correctly on the third click(!) The other sort orders are alphabetic and undesirable, but as far as I can tell are also unavoidable.

On the political parties project, you can list yourself under Spain by adding the following two lines:

{{ESP}}
#{{User|Valenciano}}

Best wishes, Warofdreams talk 23:54, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Tuxedo

As a Brit who lived for several years in the US, I was trying to think of the words that baffled me when I first arrived. "Tux" was certainly one of them. I guess tuxedo has migrated back to the UK since then (mid 1990s). I also guess I don't move in those circles! Rachel Pearce (talk) 20:53, 17 June 2008 (UTC)

Dispute resolution

Hi - I see that you have engaged in long and patient discussion with User:Lapsed Pacifist, which is a good start. Wikipedia:Dispute resolution is a good place to look for ideas of places to go next. I note that the user has already been the subject of an RFC and an RFAr; if several users are having issues with the user in a variety of fields, and RFC may be the way to go. Warofdreams talk 00:42, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

militant

Hi Valenciano.

How is it going?

regarding your latest edit at ETA, indeed 'militant' is a false friend with the Spanish 'militante' (de un partido político, for example). But, in that article, I think that ETA militant does fit, since, correct me if I am wrong, the English meaning of 'militant' involves violence, and that definitely applies to ETA militants.

Am I wrong? I would appreciate your feedback on this question, which is not all that clear to me. Mountolive group using a loop of another pop group 13:41, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Jim Allister

The story of that website was covered in at least three newspapers, and Michael Kerr's book of the 2005 election campaign. It is certainly a notable incident. If the link is dead I'd imagine there is a cache out there.Traditional unionist (talk) 16:51, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Economy of Spain

Hi Valenciano. If you had some spare time around here, I would appreciate it if you could give an English language check (odd wording and else) to this article. Also, the second and third section titles could be changed (they are mine, but even I realize that I have a flare for strange wording ;)

Best regards Mountolive group using a loop of another pop group 18:42, 12 July 2008 (UTC)

Could you take a look at this for me? I want to make a concerted effort to improve this article to at least GA soon.Traditional unionist (talk) 14:59, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

Ref tags

Hi - a nice easy one - the repeated ref tags still need to be closed with a "/", as in <ref name="test" />. Warofdreams talk 15:16, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Useless stubs

There certainly is a point if I expand them after creating a batch like I have done so far with Gerardo Abad Conde, Fernando Abril Martorell, Alberto Aguilera, Pedro Agustín Girón, Elías Ahúja y Andría. Please give me some credit, I never intended to create somee empty stubs without adding content later. I would rather more people were willing to help me translate them though. ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 15:18, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Could you have a go at translating Santiago Alba Bonifaz, I'll move on to some of the others. Thanks ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 15:24, 9 August 2008 (UTC)

Heads Up

You are being accused of being in a tag team with me here conspiring to get another editor blocked for breaching 3RR. My initial comment to one of the admins on this matter can be found here. Could you care to comment. BigDuncTalk 10:20, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Actually you weren't accused of anything. I think you'll appreciate, given the controversy raging on that article, that people were a little wound up and suspicious but no direct accusation was made against you. I believe you were acting in good faith and just got caught up in the middle of it.The Thunderer (talk) 22:38, 15 August 2008 (UTC)

Ulster Defence Regiment

Hi, I'd be very pleased if you got stuck in editing. I'd like to see the results which come from another considered judgement. I'm still not convinced about the removal of the Garland stuff but let's see what else you have in mind? I can contribute facts and citations, you can shape them - deal? The Thunderer (talk) 15:02, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

This is a courtesy notice to say that the three original 'polls' (now called "Questions") at Manual of Style (Ireland-related articles) (here), were amended during the voting process. This was due to initial confusion in their meaning. They are now unambiguous, and fully according to their original intent. You might like to check your contribution. --Matt Lewis (talk) 14:23, 24 August 2008 (UTC)

prods

When you place a prod, you need to give a reason after the vertical line in the template, such as {{subst:prod|non-notable local political candidate--no sources}} Putting the information in the deletion summary is necessary too, & you have been doing that, but the doesn't show up in the summary list many of us work from, WP:PRODSUM, unless it's in the template. Keep up the good work, the ones you've been marking are indeed not likely to be notable. .

WikiProject Elections & Referenda

I have proposed, in an effort to revive WP:WPE&R, to merge it into WP:POLITICS. I'd really rather that this not happen, but better merged than inactive. Please feel free to discuss. 69.140.152.55 (talk) 22:57, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

ETA and wp:terrorist

FYI wp:terrorist is part of wp:wta, it is a style guideline and when there is verifiable and reliable sources like the EU Spain France and US government all calling ETA terrorist plus all kinds from news media, ETA can be called terrorist on Wikipedia. I don't care about ETA or any of this stuff, i just saw you and Randroide using a style guideline like a law and i wanted to let you know. Thx, RetroS1mone talk 18:40, 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Valenciano thank you, you explained your position well, I support your solution. RetroS1mone talk 14:17, 8 November 2008 (UTC)
It was my quick mis-interpretation and 3rr warning that caused the negative tone, and i am glad we agree now. RetroS1mone talk 00:04, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Hi - thanks for your message. There is clearly a dispute over the wording of this article; while it may be that Wikipedia policies and guidelines make it clear which formula should be used, in my view, it would be useful to discuss this with the dissenting editors. While the issue has been discussed in the past, it doesn't appear to have had any recent discussion. I've protected the article for three days to halt the edit warring and to see if this will start any discussion. Warofdreams talk 23:51, 6 November 2008 (UTC)
