Ethnicity in biography articles

[edit]

Per long standing consensus, only an individual's primary citizenship is included in the lead of biography articles. Ethnicity, if relevant and supported by reliable sources, can be included in the body of the article. This is covered by WP:EGRS and MOS:ETHNICITY. Please stop edit warring to restore disputed content to John Catsimatidis and use the article talk page to get consensus for the changes you think should be made to the article. This information applies to this account and your logged-out edits.-- Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 22:46, 26 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of edit warring noticeboard discussion

[edit]

Information icon Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. Thank you. Apoorva Iyer (talk) 17:23, 1 March 2021 (UTC) Hello, I have noticed that you have reverted edits on the page of John Catsimatidis three times within 24 hours. This breaks the Edit Warring policy per Wikipedia:Edit warring: (See: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:Edit_warring#The_three-revert_rule). Per this policy, "An editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page—whether involving the same or different material—within a 24-hour period. An edit or a series of consecutive edits that undoes other editors' actions—whether in whole or in part—counts as a revert. Violations of the rule often attract blocks of at least 24 hours. Fourth reverts just outside the 24-hour period may also be taken as evidence of edit-warring, especially if repeated or combined with other edit-warring behavior. See below for exemptions." Per the policy of the edit warring noticeboard, I must notify the violator of this policy and that I am reporting this behavior on the noticeboard prior to doing so. This gives you a chance as well to revert your prior edit and engage on the Talk page, considering you do not have consensus for the edit you have made to the lead. Another editor has also posted on your talk page regarding the same issue and you have not responded. Please note that I have not yet posted on the noticeboard regarding this and have started a Talk page section on the subject page in a final attempt to have a discussion with you regarding this. If you do not engage on the talk page and/or self-revert and/or provide explanation for your edits, I will have to post on the Noticeboard. Apoorva Iyer (talk) 17:23, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Please note that as you have reverted the edit again, without engaging on the Talk page that we created yesterday and without engaging in discussion that multiple users including myself have given you the opportunity to do through reaching out to you personally on your talk page, I am posting on the aforementioned Administrator Noticeboard for edit warring. Apoorva Iyer (talk) 12:53, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hello ValantisFuturista. A direct link to the complaint can be seen at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring#User:ValantisFuturista reported by User:Apoorva Iyer (Result: ). You can respond there if you wish. Since you have already broken WP:3RR, if you make no answer to the report you may be blocked from editing. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 13:56, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 72 hours for edit warring. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.

Per a complaint at the edit warring noticeboard. EdJohnston (talk) 22:26, 2 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
