Image:Pygmy_sloth.jpg listed for deletion

[edit]
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Pygmy_sloth.jpg has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it, but use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 09:02, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the new information you've added to this page. One request though: could you please provide your references? All info in Wikipedia should be referenced I know this often isn't the case, including this article, but at least we can reference new info. References must be nearby since you just added it, right? Feel free to drop me a note. --Merbabu 01:32, 11 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I saw the references - animal corner - and i made it an in=line citation.--Merbabu 02:04, 12 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sumatran Rhinoceros - no references...

[edit]

Thanks - you've provided lot of new information on Sumatran Rhinoceros. Could you please provide reliable references according to WP:ATT? This will ensure the reliability of wikipedia in the eyes of readers, and also remove any possible concersn over copyright violation. Remember, unverified information can be removed at anytime. any questions, please let me know. kind regards. --Merbabu 09:53, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've just deleted it. I now see it is clearly a copy'n'paste from [1] and thus a copyright violation which is a serious matter. Please take more care next time. You are welcome to paraphrase info from the site and reference with in-line citations, but don't copy and paste and pass it off as your own. It only causes problems for wikipedia. kind regards and happy editing. --Merbabu 10:00, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I got your note - thanks. My apologies in advance if I've got it wrong, but I've seen the "that site copied it from wikipedia" been used falsely before. I'll look into it further. In the meantime, if you are confident that there is no copyright issue (ie, it was actually sourced from WP), please reinsert it and explain the case. thanks and happy editing. --Merbabu 01:20, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
