2011 V8 Supercars

[edit]

Hi User:V8racer999, welcome to wikipedia. There's a few things I should point you towards, like quide to writing your first article, and other important guidlines refering to notability and verifiability, but firstly I should ask you about the 2011 V8 Supercar Championship Series.

First thing though the was quite the mess, the driver's table was all over the shop and really unreadable. I've altered the article to a redirect back to the V8 Supercar main page. If you want to do some testing, and mucking around learning how things work, please don't do it in mainspace article. Wikipedia has a sandbox to use for experimentation. If you are writing an article, one of the thing you can do is to start writing it in one of your own user test pages - for example User:V8racer999/test.

With tables, please test them before saving. Just to the right of the Save page button below the editting window is the Show preview button. This will show you if you are having problems with what you have written. If for what ever reason your edit does not work, then please don't save it. Continue editting until you get it right, preview will allow you to do that.

With regards specifically the 2011 V8 Supercar Championship Series, the article needs content to be created. Please do not create a mass of blank headings with no content in them. If there is not content, do not include a heading, wait until there is content to add the heading. Also, any content added should be verified. Refer WP:VERIFY for guidelines on verifiability, but the basic essense is that you can't just add anything you like. It has to be true. New drivers should not be added to the drivers table until the team have announced "Yes this driver is our driver for 2011". Then that announcement needs to be added as a reference. Refer WP:Citing sources. A newspaper or magazine or website offering the opinion that it is most likely a driver will driver for a racing team is not good enough, it has to be a team confirmed announcement. If you want to publish you favourite rumours, there are many internet forums where you can do that.

Finally - there is no real justification for starting a 2011 V8 Supercar Championship Series article, until VESA announce their list of dates for 2011, their calendar. Until that point all the article is is an article stating that 2011 V8 Supercars will be the 52nd championship, and people can learn that very easily by reading the 2010 article. A 2011 V8 Supercar Championship Series article has been deleted at least once already because it contained nothing but speculation (refer WP:Speculation) and statistics. Wikipedia is not a magazine, it is not news source. As an encyclopedia its function is to correctly record what has happenned, not to guess at what might happen. Refer WP:What Wikipedia is not.

I hope you enjoy your time here at Wikipedia. -- Falcadore (talk) 03:06, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
