Nomination of Sameena Mustafa for deletion
[edit]A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Sameena Mustafa is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sameena Mustafa until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Bearcat (talk) 21:22, 13 October 2017 (UTC)
- Hi - I just wanted to explain what's going on with the deletion, if you happened to see this. Essentially what looks to have happened is that someone re-wrote the article so that it heavily promoted Mustafa's run for Congress, which is definitely not what Wikipedia is meant for. Unfortunately even after cleanup there were concerns of notability as most of the coverage for Mustafa is primary and what's left over is either local or in places Wikipedia doesn't typically see as a reliable source. While local coverage can be used to show some notability, it tends to get heavily depreciated on Wikipedia because the coverage is seen as routine local interest. I don't always agree with this, but I can certainly understand where the concern comes from. If you're interested, the AfD should still be running for another 4-5 days, if you wanted to try to improve the article. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 14:49, 16 October 2017 (UTC)
