[edit]
There have been two problems with this account: the account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia, and your username indicates that the account represents a business or other organisation or group or a web site, which is also against policy, as an account must be for just one person. Because of those problems, the account has been blocked indefinitely from editing. Additionally, if you receive, or expect to receive, compensation for your contributions to Wikipedia, you must disclose who is paying you to edit.

If you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organisation, you may request an unblock. To do so, post the text {{unblock-spamun|gabriellewis|I understand the reason for the block. I copied and pasted information from the website. From now on I will only post information regarding changes of names, listings and not any promotional information}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with a new username you are willing to use. See Special:CentralAuth to search for available usernames. Your new username will need to meet our username policy. Replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason to be unblocked. In that reason, you must:

  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked.
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked.
If you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal this block. To do so, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page, replace the text "Your reason here" with your reason for thinking that the block was an error, and publish the page. No thanks. If you wish to write about subject areas for which you have no conflict of interest, convince us you have read, understood, and will immediately comply with WP:COI, and tell us what you'll write about instead. Yamla (talk) 14:28, 6 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I read and understand the COI. Because I am an employee I will now recommend changes about UTT via the Talk page rather than make edits directly. I will use the account to edit information about other pages related to Trinidad and Tobago for which there is no COI

Decline reason:

You won't be unblocked to edit about your university in the near future- and you can't just pass the task off to someone else in your office(feel free to show your boss or superiors this message). We don't know who is sitting at the computer and we must treat you both as if you are the same person. Until and unless you are prepared to demonstrate what edits you will make that aren't related to your COI, as a general, individual contributor, there is no pathway to being unblocked for you. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 15:03, 6 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I am confused now. We were told we cannot be an organisation but have to be an individual. We recommended a change in our username to an individual. That has been rejected. We asked another user to create a personal account to make the changes for us as we were blocked and the information on Wikipedia was incorrect. If I am blocked and the other users who may be asked (without compensation) get suspended, how are we to suggest changes on wikipedia at all? We have stated that we will make only fact changes. We were told that is not possible. We read the COI and stated that we will not make changes directly but will do this by suggesting changes via a talk page. That too has been declined. As it stands the wikipedia page has incorrect information. We can't make changes. We can't ask another user to make changes without compensation. Is there any way forward to ensure that information is corrected? Our intention was never to break Wikipedia's rules but suggest an update the page.

You currently clearly do not intend to make useful contributions other than promoting the University of Trinidad and Tobago. This is unlikely to change soon. You, as a person, may one day be welcomed back to make contributions completely unrelated to your conflict of interest. The community is very open to such comebacks, and welcomes volunteers, of which you could one day become one. At the moment, at a rate of three unblock requests and a meatpuppet per day, your attempts to regain editing privileges are disruptive. I will prevent further similar disruption for a month, after which you are welcome to make an unblock appeal that actually addresses the concerns that led to the block, and that actually comes with genuine, clearly visible interest in making useful contributions while permanently staying away from topics related to your affiliations. You will need to provide specific examples for which edits you would like to make to which articles. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 16:10, 6 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"If you intend to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organisation, you may request an unblock". Please stop requesting an unblock unless you plan to make useful contributions other than promoting your business or organisation. We won't unblock you unless you plan to contribute outside of your conflict of interest. If your goal is to continue writing about the University of Trinidad and Tobago, this is the end of the line for you. --Yamla (talk) 15:42, 6 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
