I have tried to indicate that I need help with this article. I am too old to see it through. I have already had a brush with cancer and I wuld like to see whether anyone else out there has spotted this phenomenon which has huge implications for geology.Utomaut (talk) 12:43, 15 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article you're trying to write

[edit]

This looks very interesting, but it also looks more like something you'd find in a pop science magazine such as Natl Geographic or a school textbook rather than an encyclopedia. I don't mean to discourage you, but I also don't want you to put more effort into writing the article only to be told that we can't use it. If you want to continue, I can help you. For example, if you're having trouble uploading images, it's probably because you're not autoconfirmed, which you will be only once your account has existed for four days and made at least ten edits (although if the maps you're uploading are your own work, you can upload them at commons.wikimedia.org with no wait time). But my main concern is that the page you're working on is going to be considered unencylopedic because it is essentially a "you-focused" summary of information already present in continental drift and some other articles. -- Soap Talk/Contributions 15:21, 4 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Very sorry. I'm an absolute beginner. Haven't a clue how to load Maps and diagrams. If you could give me Wikipedia's email address, I could send them to you for processing.
  • Figures 1,4,and 5 are copies of the Pacific map on pages 134 and 135 of the old Times Atlas of the World ISBN 0 7230 0493 5 covering the relevant area with the outlines added.
  • Figure 2 has two images cut from the Geological Musem's Booklet published by HMSO & the Institute of Geological Sciences showing the ancient rock in both South America and Africa, how the continents fit and a red double headed arrow to indicate the place where they were in contact. Stupid me. Of course the length of the arrow equals both the length of Eltanin fracture which has been shifted 1200 km and the length of the Kermadec/Tonga Trench; 2390 km !!! The separation of the Eltanin and Challenger Fractures widens by 20% by the time you reach the Pacific Ridge. I must add to the text at once.
  • Figure 3 is from the same booklet showing Gondwanaland with a red spot added.
