IP voting

[edit]

Are IPs allowed to cast support votes? I ask because of this. Thanks xenocidic (talk) 12:25, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

k Thanks. I wasn't sure if the (!) was intended to stand for a negative (I.e. IP's are not allowed to negatively vote). xenocidic (talk) 15:41, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
Useight...Thank you for supporting my nomination for adminship. Through it I have become aware of a great many people who can help me in my future editing endeavors. Even though I was not promoted, your support shows that I still have something to contribute to Wikipedia, even if it is minor edits to fix spelling and grammar to working in WikiProjects to help others make great articles. If you wish to further discuss the nomination, please use its talk page. Stop by my talk page anytime, even if it is just to say hello. Have a wonderful day! - LA @ 04:03, 30 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Binayak Sen - POV tag

[edit]

Please see

http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:NPOVD#What_is_an_NPOV_dispute.3F

"If you add the above code to an article which seems to be biased to you, but there is no prior discussion of the bias, you need to at least leave a note on the article's talk page describing what you consider unacceptable about the article. The note should address the problem with enough specificity to allow constructive discussion towards a resolution, such as identifying specific passages, elements, or phrasings that are problematic."

This guidance about "enough specificity" appears to be ignored by the user who added the POV code to the "Binayak Sen" article. Please ensure that this guidance is observed before allowing the POV code to be added.

Admin coaching

[edit]

Can you tell me what I should do to start down the path of becoming an administrator on this site please? I already know that I have to be fairly versed in the policies, so if you could point me towards the specific policies that administrators have to know, that would be a great start. Also, I know that I have to create/write and help out articles as well, so do you have any ideas on what I should write about? Please also respond to this on my talk page. Thanks, Razorflame 20:43, 2 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Is it good to participate in AfD and IfD's? I am pretty sure that it is always a good thing to participate in these pages, and am completely willing to spend a lot of time on those pages (that is, if they are small enough(my internet has a hard time loading large pages(over 40kbs))). New project

[edit]

Why did you remove your comment?

I was mulling it over. I am most active in WP:GAC as an editor. I also produce a lot of quality articles in general and could be queried on pursuit of editorial excellence although I am not involved in WP:LOCE. I am fairly active in a variety of forms of WP:FC, but am not really a specialist in any one thing. I am not sure where I am needed, but my current goals are to keep WP:CHICAGO alive, get WP:LOTM approved and get at least one Republican (Jack Kemp) and one Democrat (Jesse Jackson, Jr. or Jon Corzine) to WP:FA level.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:CHICAGO/WP:LOTM) 03:15, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My reply here
Hmm, good point, maybe not. My main concern is that some of the tables are pretty huge and a new user might have to do lots of searching to find someone who has knowledge in the area that they require. I'll have to think about this :). It might also be an idea to ask people to not add themselves willy nilly, if the list gets too large it will be pretty difficult to maintain and will lose some of it's usefulness. -- Naerii 18:40, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have a question about Wikiprojects. Can you find me some Wikiprojects that would be good matches based on this information:

  • I like Geology and Minerals.
  • I like manga.
  • I like Scrabble.
  • I like Go.
  • I like Physics (general only)
  • I like Math (general only)
  • I like Geography and I like Switzerland and Romania.

My thanks for considering me for your list. There are a number of reasons - with your permission I won't go into them - that I probably wouldn't be a good source of information for new editors, so I'm going to beg off. I do appreciate the thought, though. Ed Fitzgerald (unfutz) (talk / cont) 22:01, 3 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The list sounds like a great idea! I've added my info. Might I suggest a few more oceanian editors who might be willing to be added: User:Kahuroa, User:XLerate, and User:Good Olfactory in NZ and User:JackofOz in Australia. Kahu is one of our top resident Maori/Polynesian experts, XL is a whiz with infoboxes, G.O. works a lot on categories, and Jack is one of the regulars at the reference desk. And I'm pretty sure they'd all be only too willing to help out any newbies with queries. Grutness...wha? 01:27, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I haven't had a chance to look at your edits yet. I haven't agreed to take you on yet, but to consider it. I wasn't going to look at your edits/history until/unless it was ok with your primary coach. Adding new coachees is not a top priority. I still have two new RfA's to review (WBOSITG and Copertwig), a nom in the works, a current RfA nom on the system, and 4 current coachees (including a new one). Not to mention work or other involvement in the project. When I take a coachee on, I generally spend 2-4 hours reviewing their history/edits so that I know who/what they are.Balloonman (talk) 15:36, 7 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As far as i know there's no list of online administrators (if there is, i'd be interested to know about it for future use) so i had to do a little detective work. In my experience, the FA for a day gets the crap spammed out of it due to it being the first thing that comes across the screeen of those pituitary retards we call vandals. So i looked at the edit history, looked at the people doing the reverting and went for the latest one who was an admin. Ironholds (talk) 21:12, 12 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
