Books Tell You Why

Please advise what changes you'd like to see to help removing maintenance notice. Your coaching is much appreciated. Thanks in advance..... Jkochchs 04:17, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

delete of my bands page

I can see your point but would not also http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Redshift_%28music%29 and http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Dweller_at_the_Threshold and http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wolfram_Spyra and http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Radio_Massacre_International

be removed too?

dale@inquisitorbetrayer.com is my email .. let me know your thoughts on this...

dale —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dalekay (talkcontribs) .

You are free to tag {{db-band}} on those band's respective pages, I only saw yours...and to be clear, I did not delete your band's page, I merely tagged it. Urania3 19:19, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

no I saw your tag and thought, fine I will remove the whole thing till I talked to you not wishing to be a problem, it's a wasy thing to put back, I kept a copy of the page ...

why tag these pages in this manner when they are being used to describe ? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Dalekay (talkcontribs) .

Bands must meet a standard of notability to be included as a Wikipedia article; there is also a certain style articles should adhere to. Your article was not encyclopedic.
Also, please sign your comments with ~~~~ before saving. Urania3 19:30, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Well, we are very notable, if you followed the link to our web site, you would have no question of that, even a snip of of the music we do, no question ... as for style, I copied what we put on the back of our CD as that gives a nice overview but you got me on the not encyclopedic. I will agree with you on that. However, if you think my page was out of line, the other pages I gave links too, should get the same treatment but I will not do that to them. Dale 19:41, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Well I will return later. I think I will give it a stab at writting something more encyclopedic and re-do. Do note me before I spend this time doing so that you will tag me again. I sort of feel singled out here but that might be just me. Have a good day. Dale 20:13, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

The links you provided do not all pan out:
  • Redshift was previously screened and passed, with its nomination for deletion removed.
The only one which qualifies is Dweller at the Threshold, and I'm sure it's being closely watched. (As of this writing, the article is only seven days old.)
Please do not confuse the English, "notable" with the Wikipedia, "Notable": the former means "worthy of recognition", while the latter means that it meets Wikipedia's Notability Criteria. It is not meant as an insult to the band's work.
Please do not take any of this personally; I was merely trolling the Recent Changes and your new article caught my eye. Wikipedia litterally gets thousands of new articles each day, and since we're trying to write an encyclopedia together, each one should be screened for appropriateness. You had the opportunity to salvage the article you created...you merely needed to place the {{hangon}} tag at the top of the article and make your argument on the talk page, and then improve the article. Instead you chose to blank the article (incidentally, this is considered vandalism).
I urge you to read the notability criteria guideline for music and document notability appropriately in the article. It will save you a great deal of headache, from me or other editors. Urania3 21:17, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

I blanked it as I never seen that tag before like or been questioned as well as had no clue what the deal is. Best I remove something I wrote then figure out. I would not consider that vandalism, unless you think vandalism to one's self is. I read the confusing and vague notability guidealine and I feel we fit that. Esp. considering the other pages I pointed out, we fit in fine. Or is notability something that takes 20 years? if so then we are short about 14 on that. ;-)

Here is the main link http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Berlin_school that started me to correct and add the page for ourselves.

I am sure you will have a good time editing this one too.

No, I should correct the "delete band page" no you did not do that. You simply flagged my page for instant delete. small difference. but same result. When I checked it, it did not come up. So I re-did it. Then got that flag. Now the problem is fitting it back into the wikipedia in a manner that will it will be left alone. Or then I would like to see the fairness exercised with the other pages referenced in the same manner as you are pointing out to me.

Dale 21:35, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Blanking pages or removing maintenence tags are considered vandalism. The tag in question, {{db-band}}, gives clear instructions on how to dispute its placement on an article, including not removing the tag.
I do not feel the notability criteria guideline for music is vague or confusing. Can you assert and document that Inquisitor Betrayer:
  1. Has had a charted hit on any national music chart, in at least one large or medium-sized country?
  2. Has had a record certified gold or higher in at least one large or medium-sized country?
  3. Has gone on an international concert tour, or a national concert tour in at least one large or medium-sized country, reported in notable and verifiable sources?
  4. Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable)?
  5. Has been featured in multiple non-trivial published works in reliable and reputable media (excludes things like school newspapers (although university newspapers are usually fine), personal blogs, etc.)?
  6. Contains at least one member who was once a part of or later joined a band that is otherwise notable?
  7. Has become the most prominent representative of a notable style or of the local scene of a city? (note that the subject must still meet verifiability.)
  8. Has won a major music award, such as a Grammy, Juno or Mercury Music Award?
  9. Has won or placed in a major music competition?
  10. Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g. a theme for a network television show?
  11. Has been placed in rotation nationally by any major radio network?
  12. Has been the subject of a half hour or longer broadcast on a national radio network?
If the answer to any of the above is "yes" and it is documented and verifiable then, there's no problem with creating an article for Inquisitor Betrayer.
Berlin School of electronic music is an article concerning a genre of music. It's not an article about a band. I'm not sure what you're implying here.
The tag placed is not "instant delete": it is "speedy delete". Again, the tag has clear instructions on how to contest its placement. Again, the links you provided have been screened, by other editors, and either have met the criteria for notability or are being watched to ensure they do. Have you checked any of the respective article's histories? Some indeed were once tagged for deletion--then either the tag was withdrawn by the nominator or an admin decided that the argument contesting the speedy deletion of the article was valid. Urania3 21:58, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

"speedy delete". means the same to me, remove, delete etc.. I am not a wiki expert so yea I read alot of info that was there and decided, the best thing, remove then ask questions..

now for you list

  1. Has released two or more albums on a major label or one of the more important indie labels (i.e. an independent label with a history of more than a few years and a roster of performers, many of which are notable)?

cd baby for one, music forte another etc... we do our own thing, that is we are indie.. (I can tell you did not research us very much)so that woould be a yes

  1. Has been featured in multiple non-trivial published works in reliable and reputable media (excludes things like school newspapers (although university newspapers are usually fine), personal blogs, etc.)? several e-zines and hard copy magazine cary reviews of us.. again, some of those are posted on the links found on our web site...
  2. Has performed music for a work of media that is notable, e.g. a theme for a network television show? again a yes, our links show Out of Darkness a sci-fi show on dish network uses our music.

(also you could have check the database at ASCAP for some of this info)

  1. Has been placed in rotation nationally by any major radio network?
  2. Has been the subject of a half hour or longer broadcast on a national radio network? would that include internet radio? if so, a few years now we have been played. so that would be a yes, as we are not national, we are world wide.

again, if you even looked at the first link to our band site, you would have seen the list of countries that we have fans in, that is, who listens to our music.

you might have forgot to add, do we have tracks in compliations that too are played on radio or appear.. if so yes, several compliations with other bands.

I am amazed at what great length you have gone to give me this info but did not look at us to see. Or does you subjectiveness include that you have and you don't think we should be in this?

I can see this isn't going anywhere. Can you take me off your watch this user list and allow another editor to review. I am getitng the idea you don't like us. Again, maybe it's just me and I know, email and post can leave a lot desired in communications so I will say I am sorry if I offended you. I am trying hard not to take your communication offensive but it appears that way to me. I am sorry for that.

I gave you the link to the Berlin School of music so you can see how and why I made those entries. You can also see the other links I mentioned to you. Dale 22:43, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Again, the problem here is that you did not document these assertions in your article. Your article read like advertising copy. That is not a neutral point of view nor is it verifiable information. Wikipedia is not a MySpace clone.Urania3 22:54, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

as mentioned I am not sure we are communicating... when I get a chance, I will make a new page, adjust the links and enter in some links for who ever in the talk page or on the page itself.. I think before you tag a page, do anything to a page, you should do the research. Not require the person makeing the page. You are working off your core knowledge, not expanding it at all but placing a burden of proof upon another, a defensive act in my books. such it is.

you have been educational, now I know what and maybe here conside a notable thing.. so I guess we are .. indies use and do what they must to get attention, marketing and heard, not in the that order .. we are indie ... we are notable ... thanks to you .. anyway, later, maybe today, I will do that page, put some links on it so you can follow up.. if not you then who ever... wish you will, have a good day and all of that .. look forward to working with you in the future as you seem to be very obessive with your work. also, thank you for showing me what those tags are, how they are use and the "Dale 23:24, 8 November 2006 (UTC)" thing, I don't get much into code these days and your hints and refernce helped a bit. I also now know, don't just delete the page but give the aruguement for it.. as you got to fight for anything you do ... really, I would have been fine just deleting it and asking why ... but it's been very educational .. My band members will chime too on the pages, I made a note of these comversations to them. They might want to add somethings to it too. Maybe not, they leave a lot of that up to me. ;-) Dale 23:24, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

As I said, this is not personal, but a certain onus falls on one to make sure they are conforming to a website's policies and procedures. Especially with Wikipedia: as an encyclopedia, it is supposed to be an authoritative resource, the research already done, the proof already demonstrated. Personally, I'd really like to see your article included in Wikipedia--but there are many, many, many bands who think that one gig makes them prominent (I'm not saying this is the case for you ;) ). Friendster, sure. Wikipedia, no.
Again, this was not personal, and I'd like to help you with your article. Wikipedia is a complicated place: my first few edits (in May/June of this year) I was the one on your end--uncertain and unaware of all that is Wiki. Take your time and read some of Wikipedia's policies (particularly The Five Pillars). It will definitely help to look at some popular band's pages to see a good format to use. And please, let's keep communicating.  :) Urania3 03:21, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for you offer, we will take you up on that. ;-) We had a band communication last night with primary members and our new one (well he will be on the next cd). We do all our work over the internet since each member lives thousands of miles apart, in other countries as well. Yep, we been doing this over the internet for over 6 years now. All tracks uploaded, edits, mixes, ideas etc. The bottom line was, we will work out a article that may come close to meeting the requirements here. We will note you for your help to peek at it and see if it is workable. Also we will gather links that can be checked for certain items as requested and required. Thanks for your help. It will be a few days before we have that together. No time set for a due date but it will be done. btw, another radio station on the east coast just contacted us for air play so that will be included as well, it's a prog rock station. Dale 15:58, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

Please dont delete this article just yet. I plan to expand it further later on. thanks Pirus 21:23, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

I am not an admin, and I would not be the one to delete it. Please make your case on the article's talk page.Urania3 21:24, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Boy's literacy

Thanks for the msg re Boy's literacy... It appears that article was deleted... but thanks anyway for the note. Katalaveno 22:25, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

It would appear that the article has come back to life! :) It looks pretty good, far better than it did. Thinking now that it will be eventually merged into the teaching section of Literacy.Katalaveno 01:32, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Erratic edits

Erratic indeed-he's a new account from a user who was previously blocked after throwing a tantrum on a deleted article. He's since decided to pull this on all articles regarding religious institutions. I've reported him as a vandal, so an admin will catch 'em sooner or later, in the meantime I'm reverting his garbage.
