[edit]Hello, I'm Dr.K.. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added to Assassination of Abraham Lincoln have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. Dr. K. 20:08, 29 November 2016 (UTC)
Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Assassination of Abraham Lincoln. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. [edit]You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you insert a spam link, as you did at Assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted, preventing anyone from linking to them from all Wikimedia sites as well as potentially being penalized by search engines. 331dot (talk) 13:25, 30 November 2016 (UTC)
Not sure how this is spam, when it directs the user to a lincoln assassination site with more compiled documents, newspapers, pictures and info on the topic than any other. I'm a lincoln researcher and have written books on the topic. Thought it would be a good site for others to visit, since it has more information than many of the other external links, one of which doesn't even work. Silly to delete one with a wealth of information, where others lead to nowhere.
- I invite you to participate in the existing discussion on the article talk page, but I will say that you posting links to your own website about your own research and books appears to be nothing but promotional in nature (spam). If every Lincoln researcher did this, the page would be nothing but a linkfarm. If you have found that some of the links are no longer active or otherwise inappropriate, feel free to remove them and give a reason for doing so. There are likely too many links on the page already. 331dot (talk) 13:43, 30 November 2016 (UTC)
