This image needs to be removed

[edit]

Please remove this image from this page. It is offensive and is not representative of the majority of residents in Poplarville, MS. Anonymous79261 (talk) 04:06, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I did NOT add this image, I reverted it back to blank. The image can NOT be removed without administrative rights. Someone has once again ADDED Poplarville's name to this picture. Need to write Wikipedia. The user who uploaded this is blocked and removed since April 2008. Thank you undetermined21.

Pictures

[edit]

We can't reuse pictures anywhere from the internet unless they were posted with a specific statement saying they are copyright-free. So the blueberry festival will probably have to wait. But more pictures of the community college, a better picture of the courthouse (fall color? not so much parking lot, anyway), maybe the high school, some cute houses, is there an attractive main street or square ... Be careful if there are people in the picture that it is flattering and that their faces are hidden or not too clear. And if there's any art involved, including the monument at the courthouse, it must either be very old (I'm thinking 100 years and the artist dead for 70 years, but I am no copyright expert) or it must not be a major feature in the picture. Upload to Commons rather than here; they have a wizard to walk you through teh process, the picture can then be used on any version of Wikipedia, and new accounts can upload to Commons but on Wikipedia only autoconfirmed accounts can upload files, which usually means at least 4 days old and with at least 10 edits. Ok, thank you. Undetermined21 (talk) 18:18, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Just to mention, when Yngvadottir says "upload to Commons", he means this site and then the blue "Upload" button on that page. Using photos you clicked yourself with your own camera is the easiest way. Once photos are on Commons then they can be used there and also used here on English Wikipedia and on Wikipedias in all other languages. MPS1992 (talk) 19:21, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Undetermined21 (talk) 21:43, 18 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
MPS1992 and Yngvadottir. I would like to thank you both and everyone else for helping me so much. When you google now, it doesn't come up in the "faked info box". I am understanding better now how this works. I am following the discussion and I am completely fine with the image being renamed and putting it in the Klan page and the things that have been suggested. As long as it isn't floating around with really no information, with only a city, popping up on google where it was, and people jumping to conclusions. It was all over FB and that is what brought it to my attention. I wish people could see how we ALL united as a community on this subject trying to get it down. Please don't come back with an attack, ,lol. I know enough how the south is percieved. Undetermined21 (talk) 00:46, 20 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
