[edit]Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Smuggling Interdiction and Trade Compliance. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. I don't care if you are the government! WuhWuzDat 19:22, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the username you have chosen (USDA-SITC) seems to imply that you are editing on behalf of a group, company or website.
There are two issues with this:
- It is possible that you have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, you must exercise great caution when editing on topics related to your organization.
- Your account cannot represent a group of people. You may wish to create a new account with a username that represents only you. Alternatively, you may consider changing your username to avoid giving the impression that your personal account is being used for promotional purposes.
Regardless of whether you change your name or create a new account, you are not exempted from the guidelines concerning editing where you have a conflict of interest. For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. The article in question is Smuggling Interdiction and Trade Compliance. Thank you. WuhWuzDat 19:22, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
Hi, I am only trying to update the history of the USDA SITC website to make it current and accurate since we had not updated the history content for several years. I hope this is acceptable since we are not attempting to promote ourselves nor are we updating the information for commercial purposes. USDA-SITC (talk) 19:28, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
- That's fine, but you need to create an account with a username that represents you, not an organization. ~Amatulić (talk) 20:01, 25 March 2011 (UTC)
