Reference?

[edit]

Hello, I noticed you added the following text to the article Mark Baldwin (baseball) without a reference with this edit: "Baldwin posted a 25-17 win-loss record for Duluth. He had 373 innings pitched in 43 appearances and completed all 41 of his starts." can you please provide a reference for your claims? Therapyisgood (talk) 06:36, 27 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I’ve researched that season, including making photocopies of all of the box scores and, ridiculously, entered them on a website for exact calculations (see below). Duluth’s record was 46-33. There were three forfeit victories, one of which was for a game that was never played. Baldwin pitched the other two that resulted in forfeit. I’ve given him credit for both victories since he had complete games for both. One was nine innings and the other was five innings. I have Baldwin with 27 wins and 17 losses. If the two forfeit wins are not credited, his record was 25-17.
Baldwin had two remarkable performances for Duluth. The June 18 game is mentioned in the biography. He had 18 strikeouts that day. He had another high strikeout performance as well. On September 13, 1886, he had 19 strikeouts in 12 innings against Oshkosh.
