Speedy deletion nomination of The Progressive Episcopal Church
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on The Progressive Episcopal Church, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. R3ap3R (talk) 23:28, 7 April 2018 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm R3ap3R. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to The_Progressive_Episcopal_Church have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. R3ap3R (talk) 23:34, 7 April 2018 (UTC)
- I apologise for getting ahead of myself, and having a bit of a brain fart. I was wanting to simply create a link to the demonination's website, completely overlooking the fact Wikipedia's hyperlinks simply go to other pages on Wikipedia. I have only thus far drafted a rough outline of a possible Wikipedia page for our church, and hope to be able to submit at a later date. The Wikipedia setup is slightly different from the one I regularly use (ChoralWiki). Regards, Rt. Rev. Thurlow Weed, Secretary General, The Progressive Episcopal Church, www.tpecusa.org. A tag has been placed on The Progressive Episcopal Church requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.tpecusa.org/our-history--structure.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

[edit]Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with The Progressive Episcopal Church. If you believe the page should not be deleted, you may contest the deletion by clicking on the button that says: Contest this speedy deletion, which appears inside the speedy deletion notice. This will allow you to make your case on the talk page. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the article. Thank you. ∰Bellezzasolo✡ Discuss 01:40, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry, I was not aware that I had done this. I have just submitted my contest for deletion, as I am owner and webmaster of the TPEC website and also the chief administrative officer of the church. Thank you, Rt. Rev. Thurlow Weed. Tweedfour (talk) 01:51, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- OK, as owner of the website you can obviously give copyright to Wikipedia (of course, once it's on here, it's on here). The procedure in this case is to verify off-wiki that you are indeed the owner of the site, contact the OTRS team for details. ∰Bellezzasolo✡ Discuss 01:59, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- Donating copyrighted materials goes into the full details, you probably want to have a look at the DONATETEXT section. ∰Bellezzasolo✡ Discuss 02:02, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'll try to take care of that tomorrow afternoon after church. I think I know how to pull up the Weebly site ownership info to provide to the OTRS team. I've looked over the links you provided and it seems pretty straightforward. Tweedfour (talk) 02:16, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- It got deleted as advertising, however, if you request on Seraphimblade's talk page, they may be willing to undelete to your user space as a WP:REFUND, or they may be willing to send a copy by email (deletion isn't actual deletion, it just is hiding the article from mere mortals). ∰Bellezzasolo✡ Discuss 10:18, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- So I see. I've sent him a note requesting restoration so that I might continue with the verification process. I really cannot see how it could be considered advertising, as I used several wiki pages for small denominations like as as guides. Wikipedia already lists TPEC on this page: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/List_of_Christian_denominations_affirming_LGBT. If the entry needs rewritten to be less quotational of the TPEC website, I can do that. Tweedfour (talk) 11:21, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- Editing an article about yourself, or an organization in which you play a major role, isn't absolutely forbidden but it's a really, really bad idea. Shock Brigade Harvester Boris (talk) 15:23, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- I have placed an article request in the Anglicanism section, so perhaps some day someone may come along and decide to create an entry. It appears that there is a certain randomness to Wikipedia that I don't fully comprehend, a randomness that seems to rely on uninvolved people chancing upon the non-existence of an entry and deciding to create one that may or may not be accurate. Tweedfour (talk) 17:47, 8 April 2018 (UTC)
- That's a good description of how Wikipedia works. It's a volunteer project with no real direction as to content.
- I haven't been able to find your article request in your contributions so am not sure how to interpret your response. I'm sympathetic to your desire to create an article. The challenge is that there appears to be very little coverage of the Progressive Episcopal Church in mainstream news media or other venues independent of the church.
