Trombonist

[edit]

Hi, thanks for commenting. The thing is that I'm not too sure how much relevance a "List of famous trombonists" has in an article on trombonists. We already have List of jazz trombonists and List of classical trombonists, so we seem to be alright as far as trombonist-related lists are concerned. What is more interesting - and more encyclopedic and more NPOV - is some of the social history of trombonists: what sort of people played the trombone when, etc: where the world's best trombone players have come from, who are the particularly historically-renowned trombonists, what composers have played the trombone - that sort of thing.

Any, I hope that this gives you some ideas for the article. I certainly think any expansion of the article should go in this direction, rather than just a dictionary definition and a list of "famous" trombonists. The real problem with such a list is that whatever definition of famous you use will be your definition, and hence original research, which is not permitted. It is not impossible to make NPOV lists with POV sounding titles, but it is very difficult. Best to avoid them altogether. Anyway, I hope that this helps. Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Tromboneguy! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 6 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 2 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

The article Dave Stewart (trombonist) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Seems like a capable instrumentalist, playing at a high level but no indication of satisfying WP:MUSICBIO.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
