- I have posted a reply to a query which I believe may originate with you on my User discussion page. If the query was yours, I hope you will find my reply of interest. Yours, Dr Steven Plunkett 13:41, 24 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply, use the line how you like. If you wish to open a dialogue with other wikipedians, it should relate to the contents of wikipedia, as these talk pages are not intended to be simply public discussion forums but part of the record of the work in compiling the 'pedia.
- One principle is, for instance, that only under very special circumstances should the logs of these dialogues be deleted, as you have just done with the spam warnings which were placed on this site by others in the past few days. This is likely to annoy the administrators further.
- Please do not feel defensive about my remarks, they were intended in good faith.
- So far as your website is concerned, probably you should have an interactive forum on it somewhere so that you can receive feedback, as if anything is 'un-English' I should think it would be having something telling one what one's identity is or should be without having any voice or means to respond to it.
- Unfortunately Wikipedia talk pages cannot substitute for you in that, because they are dedicated to this particular task. Why not set up your userpage and participate? otherwise you'll keep running into the protocol. Dr Steven Plunkett 10:09, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- As the person who placed some of the warnings, I can say that I don't mind them being removed, as long as this reflects a change of heart. If you stop acting unilaterally and open a reasonable dialog with editors (like you seem to be doing) there's no reason you'd need to keep the warnings. We're all reasonable folk here, and we just want what's best for the project. :) --Ashenai 10:17, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- I'll just add that I agree with Ashenai that I'm glad to have you here if you're interested in contributing to the encyclopædia. Unfortunately I can't help you much with "Englishness"; I'm not at all a scholar (or even knowledgeable in lay terms) in that area. Mike Christie (talk) 12:07, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
