A tag has been placed on Waldron mercy academy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Conflict of interest

[edit]

If you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article Waldron Mercy Academy, you may have a conflict of interest. In keeping with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy, edits where there is a conflict of interest, or where such a conflict might reasonably be inferred from the tone of the edit and the proximity of the editor to the subject, are strongly discouraged. If you have a conflict of interest, you should avoid or exercise great caution when:

  1. editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with;
  2. participating in deletion discussions about articles related to your organization or its competitors; and
  3. linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).

Please familiarize yourself with relevant policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. For more details about what, exactly, constitutes a conflict of interest, please see our conflict of interest guidelines. Thank you. --SquidSK (1MClog) 20:22, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Response

[edit]

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia! Let me give you three pieces of advice:

  1. You should really avoid writing articles about your employer. This is a conflict of interest, and highly discouraged.
  2. Do not add any copyrighted text to Wikipedia, including copy-and-pasting text from your school's website. This exposes Wikipedia to myriad legal issues.
  3. You need to cite reliable secondary sources to establish your school's notability. Secondary schools are usually considered notable due to their importance in their community, but primary schools need to cite national awards, or significant news coverage (national prefered, regional ok). I see that the school was named a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. You should find a news story about this award, then cite it.

Each of the blue links above point to pages with Wikipedia policies and guidelines. Let me know if you have any further questions! --SquidSK (1MClog) 20:39, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Waldron Mercy Academy, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Waldron Mercy Academy. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. ukexpat (talk) 21:32, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please help us

[edit]

Ms. Lockett, it looks like the consensus is shaping up to support keeping your article. Even I, a committed deletionist, can see that the school is notable enough to warrant an article. Several Wikipedians have stood behind your school and agreed to help improve the article to meet our standards. I've personally added it to my watchlist, so I will be checking it daily to keep it free of vandalism.

That being said, now we could use your help. Please contact the CIO who was suggesting that you, and officials at other schools, go to Wikipedia to create articles. We've given you a lot of links and a lot of information, but if you would just forward one link to this person, and share you experience with him, it would help us protect the encyclopedia that we (and you!) have worked hard to create an maintain.

The link is http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Wikipedia:BFAQ, or he can come to our website and enter WP:BFAQ in the search box. That page is a list of questions frequently asked by companies and non-profit organizations about how to deal with their presence (or lack thereof) on Wikipedia.

Thanks for your help, and please feel free to help on other articles! --SquidSK (1MClog) 01:45, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I hope that this whole process hasn't been too much of a "learning experience" in the pejorative sense (i.e., per the buttons I see at science fiction conventions which proclaim, "Oh, no! Not another learning experience!"). --Orange Mike | Talk 03:06, 7 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
