Firefox "unintended bias"

[edit]

So why did you, without discussion, remove an entire section of the article? ViperSnake151  Talk  04:13, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the entire section for several reasons. Most importantly it doesn't include any of the numerous examples where Firefox performs more weakly than other web browsers. It was a reception section that only included positive reception, perhaps that would be a more fitting title? Secondly, and also important, the reception section was unbelievably sparse and with new versions of Firefox being released every other month it would have not only been near impossible to maintain for the future, but the research required to fill out the older years would have been even harder. Oh, and did I mention that even though we're 3/4 of way through 2013 we have yet to add any recent "reception" to that section? Look, I built huge portions of the Firefox article, just check the edit history - it isn't easy for me to delete huge sections of an article I wrote a couple years ago but unfortunately I dreamed bigger than the potential of the open-source web. I've unfortunately come to the conclusion that consolidation is the best way to maintain an article. I reached out to Mozilla, the largest open-source project in the world, to help maintain and update the Firefox article, but unfortunately they completely failed in organizing any force behind the Wiki article. This is why I deleted this section, and it was only the beginning of many more sections that I (or someone else) will unfortunately be forced to delete because a section will reach the point where they are too outdated where they cannot be repaired. I commend you for reaching out and not just reverting my deletion, its something this community sorely lacks. Thanks and let me know if there is anything else I can help you out with! ҭᴙᴇᴡӌӌ 08:12, 6 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. You've been unsubscribed from the Feedback Request Service

[edit]

Hi Trewyy! You're receiving this notification because you were previously subscribed to the Feedback Request Service, but you haven't made any edits to the English Wikipedia in over three years.

In order to declutter the Feedback Request Service list, and to produce a greater chance of active users being randomly selected to receive invitations to contribute, you've been unsubscribed, along with all other users who have made no edits in three years or more.

You do not need to do anything about this - if you are happy to not receive Feedback Request Service messages, thank you very much for your contributions in the past, and this will be the last you hear from the service. If, however, you would like to resubscribe yourself, you can follow the below instructions to do so:

  1. Go to the Feedback Request Service page.
  2. Decide which categories are of interest to you, under the RfC and/or GA headings.
  3. Paste {{Frs user|Trewyy|limit}} underneath the relevant heading(s), where limit is the maximum number of requests you wish to receive for that category per month.
  4. Publish the page.

If you've just come back after a wikibreak and are seeing this message, welcome back! You can follow the above instructions to re-activate your subscription. Likewise, if this is an alternate account, please consider subscribing your main account in much the same way.

Note that if you had a rename and left your old name subscribed to the FRS, you may be receiving this message on your new username's talk page still. If so, make sure your new account name is subscribed to the FRS, using the same procedure mentioned above.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask on the Feedback Request Service talk page, or on the Feedback Request Service bot's operator's talk page. Thank you!
