Regarding my article: The proletariat.
Although you believe that this band is not notable, your opinion does not echo those of many people who own and enjoy albums and compilations listed on the article's page itself. I am in shock that you would judge a band you haven't ever heard. I am also rather irritated of your choice to have it deleted. Your reasons are silly, honestly.
Also, for your information, just because you've never heard of the label doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It was most likely a DIY label. And the fact they have no "coverage" means nothing, they were huge in the early 80's and disbanded, like many bands. Should all bands be worthless if they are on a DIY label without notability outside their respective scenes?
Do you go around judging things you know nothing about, or are you trying new things lately?
I truly do hope they delete the article, because I'm tired of elitists (who know nothing about the topic, may I add) passing through and tagging things for deletion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by CorinneChaos (talk • contribs) 02:17, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
Denver Museum of Nature and Science
Hey Cari,
The reason I deleted the item about the controversy at DMNS is because it is incorrect. BC tours is a non-profit group that gives tours at many locations with their version of creationist ideas. They are based in the Colorado Springs, CO area and accompany groups of home schooled children to various attractions in Colorado providing "Biblically Correct" (hence the name BC tours) tours. The DMNS is in no way affiliated with them. As an atheist and a regular visitor to the museum I felt compelled to defend an institution that has been a pillar of the scientific community in Denver since I was in grade school. For more information please visit bctours.org and you will see that they are their own entity and not part of DMNS. Also, please note that the New York Times article cited as a reference actually contains the sentence "One company, called B.C. Tours "because we are biblically correct," even offers escorted visits to the Denver Museum of Science and Nature. Participants hear creationists' explanations for the exhibitions." There is a significant difference between an escorted visit to the museum and an official museum tour. I work in the Denver media and am not affiliated with the DMNS in any way, I just know an unfair connection when I see one. Let me know what you think.
P.S. Please see the following article in which the DMNS' chief curator Kirk Johnson said: "Their message is quite backward and intellectually dishonest." http://www.rockymountainnews.com/drmn/local/article/0,1299,DRMN_15_4476836,00.html

Montebello
Hey, no problem, thanks for the note. Someone had edited Mondrian, which led me to the article about the Met (which I expanded), then I saw the article about de Montebello. Trying to chase down this claim to nobility now. Don't people have to renounce their foreign titles when they become American citizens? Anyway, more to come... I noticed that you're a museum freak ;-), so i bring this issue before you for your wisdom and guidance. I prodded this dude becasue I did't see his notability. But apparently he started a museum, which might be notable, so I tought of maybe merge/redirect to an article on the museam. You are receiving this notice because you have had previous dealings with the above user, in, so far as I could tell, a less-than-positive fashion. Community service recently emailed another user, User:Tiddly Tom, expressing a desire to return to Wikipedia to constructively contribute. In an effort to assume good faith, but still respect the reasons for the block, I have set Community service a series of tasks for him to complete on his now-unprotected talk page so that he may demonstrate this willingness to contribute to us. These tasks are listed here, and the full discussion of this situation, including an email I sent to Community service just now, may be found on my talk page at User talk:Hersfold#User:Community service. - I couldn't tell that he'd done much of anything to the article, either - it looks like he just moved stuff around. He didn't even fix the glaringly incorrect link in the first paragraph. Anyway, this was intended to be an absolute final chance anyway. If he pulls the same stuff again, he's going to have to go to ArbCom to get unblocked, and I'll make sure to tell him that. I'll give it a little more time as I can't see that the others have responded yet, but unless they feel he shouldn't be, I'll probably lift his block this evening. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of FusionArts Museum, and it appears to be very similar to another wikipedia page: Shalom Neuman. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case.
This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 04:08, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Odette Krimpn AfD Answer
Hi there. Good question.... the reason that I didn't go with just a straight keep is because the WP:RS were so weak. I'm taking into account the fact that Odette is a designer from a non-Western nation, so RS is harder to come by, but even so they struck me as quite weak. It was a close call. Honestly, that's one where if you polled 3 admins I think you'd get 4 answers. :-) I hope that answers your question - I'm afraid it's not a good answer though. I'm traveling for the next couple of days, but leave me a note if you want more info and I'll deal with it when I get back. - Philippe 04:52, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Taiwanese museums
HI there just to let you know I've created some articles on Taiwanese museums Kaohsiung Museum of Fine Arts , National Science and Technology Museum, Kaohsiung Museum of History, Kaohsiung Astronomical Museum Kaohsiung Hakka Cultural Museum. Luckily because the government is keen to increase tourism to the max there is quite a some info in english to expand them. Hope you are well. Regards ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 13:49, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Isn't there some kind of museums project banner or something to go in the talk pages? If so can you tag them and also add the Taiwan banner -cheers ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 13:59, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Oh I'll stub that later. Some of the museums are pretty important -one of them claims to be the largest in Asia I think so high priority!! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 14:34, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
I've put my name down for the project. I won't actively be concentrating on just museums, but my work will be covering many places like this. I'm developing the number of article son places but also increasing coverage of cities anf towns all over with nice infoboxe slike Template:Ljubljana etc. Guaranteed there will be many museums red linked in various cities to come! ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 14:39, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
The other day I started National Museum of Slovenia. I'm not sure though if it is a low priority. National museums of countries I think should be a mid importance at the very least (oh it is a mid already) ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 14:42, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
I can look at blofeld botting those missing articles later if you like. They won't be particularly impressive starters, but the most important thing is to get them started and give other editors the chance to expand them. In my experience starting them gives them much more of a chance of growing than people seeing red links and feeling a bit subdued by so many missing ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 14:51, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
Its not really a bot but it can generate 5 articles a minute. This works well when there are a huge number of red links to get through. I can start the egyptian and greek ones now , now that I;ve finished sorting the syrian city categories - Once they are started perhaps they could be moved to a new page saying "WikiProject Museums/Requests for expansion" or something ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 15:06, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
I'd strongly recommend creating museum navigational boxes by country or region/city. I'm sure for most countries we could cram them into national infoboxes. This will also encourage browsing editors to expand any sub stubs they come across ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 15:22, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
OK I've created nearly 500 stubs to clear some of the red links. Sorry if they are a bit lacking but at least they are up and running and ready for development. I'll leave a requests with WP:Greece to try to expand some of them -I also think it should be a WP:Museums goal to regard Greece as an important country to work on. I'll try to tag a few later. OK? ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 18:24, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

Children's museums
Thanks for your work on museums, but I noticed that you created Category:Children's museums in Indiana. As it currently has only one member, and it can't grow much more because there are so few of them, I find it somewhat unnecessary to have this small category. It can easily be kept in Category:Children's museums in the United States, which is not very big either. I'd like to move The Children's Museum of Indianapolis back to the latter category and later delete the one-membered former category if you don't mind. Reywas92Talk 18:51, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- I just feel that that it rediculous to in a way clog up categorization with cats that only have a few members. Even if there are more Indiana museums to come, it will always be a very small category. WP:CAT does not specifically address it, but when there are unpopulated cats, it may be better to merge them. Perhaps a Category:Children's museums in the Midwest? I don't feel the need to have cats for each state's children's museums when they are very small cats and would do just fine in a combined cat. Reywas92Talk 19:12, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- I did the Laredo one and another, and I'm looking at some others. Looking at Category:Museums by city, those Japanese cats are pesky and perhaps that CfD should be reopened. Reywas92Talk 19:28, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you mean by a master list. A list of what? Other than Midwest, the official regions are also West, South, and Northeast, which New York and New England could be merged into. Still, there's less than 50 (categorized) children's museums in the US so the main cat isn't that big. Also, to delete the empty cats you made, you could just add {{db-author}} rather than CfD. Reywas92Talk 19:50, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
- That's fine. Looking at it again, db-author might not be right, but it doesn't really matter. You could use {{db-catempty}}. Reywas92Talk 20:07, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

Jacques Marchais Museum errors
Dear Travellingcari, I am the Curator at the Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art in Staten Island. I appreciate your recent additions to the Wikpedia page and wanted to clear up some inaccuracies.
Marchais never went by the name 'Jacqueline Norma Klauber' as listed in Wong's 1998 article. In 2007, I did substantial research on Marchais and published 2 articles: Sarah Johnson, "From Staten Island to Shangri-La: The Collecting Life of Jacques Marchais," Orientations Vol. 38 No. 4, May 2007, pp. 85-90 and Sarah Johnson, "Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art," Asian Art Newspaper, April 2007. The research that I did for these articles and for the Museum's 60th anniversary exhibition cleared up this misconception about her name. The recent research should clarify the misuse of her name prior to 2007. Also, you cite my article as a reference after the sentence saying that she went by the name 'Jacqueline Norma Klauber' which makes it look as if that information came from me. I am a respected scholar in the field and stand by the quality of my work; if you could kindly remove this incorrect citation, I would appreciate it. The Orientations article has a section dedicated to explaining her name, which I encourage you to read if you are interested. It is discouraging to see the same misinformation repeated even though it has been corrected in recent published articles.
Also, the institution as a whole, the Jacques Marchais Center of Tibetan Art, was officially incorporated in 1945. The Museum part opened in 1947, so setting the established date at 1947 is incorrect. The institution was established in 1945 and the museum opened in 1947.
Also, the text on the museum is actually a catalog of some of the collection rather than a book. The correct citation is: Barbara Lipton and Nima Dorjee Ragnubs, Treasures of Tibetan Art: Collections of the Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art. Oxford University Press: New York, 1996. ISBN 0-19-509714-9. It has nothing to do with the Journal of the American Oriental Society.
It would be great if you could keep the complete citations for the articles, since this is the most current and correct scholarship on the museum.
If you have any questions about the museum or Marchais, please do not hesitate to contact me. I would greatly appreciate your making these changes to the listing you posted. Sincerely, Sarah Johnson, PhD Curator Jacques Marchais Museum of Tibetan Art 338 Lighthouse Avenue Staten Island, New York 10301 sjohnson@tibetanmuseum.org T: 718-987-3500 F: 718-351-0402 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 141.157.241.183 (talk) 16:31, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Checking in
Hello, I thought I'd drop you a line letting you know about a decision I've come to realize. I won't be contributing meaningful content to the museums project, and am thinking about removing my name since the only museums I'm interested in overlap with the two projects that I'm heavily involved in (Ships and MILHIST). I'll leave the decision on leaving my name on the list of participants up to you, as the defacto head of the project. If you or the project need some advice regarding a ship or military museum, you know where to find me. -MBK004 04:28, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hi, MBK, I think indirectly you are contributing meaningful content to the project by doing what you do on those ships that happen to be museums. So whatever you do in the context of those projects/articles helps us too, if that makes sense. I'm happy to have your name remain there as a reminder for people who would like help/some info on ship articles. Of course if you're too busy with other stuff, I completely understand that as my involvement in various projects goes in fits and spurts. Museums though.. I'm a geek ;)
- Thanks, I guess you've just explained it perfectly to me. I'll remain as a resource to the project, per your reasoning. -MBK004 15:49, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

- Alright, I've added a link to the template on the assessment page - that's probably the best way to deal with that, and I tried to make all the parameters as intuitive as possible - You'll see I only listed four different ways to classify a disambiguation page in the documentation, but really there's six, just because nobody ever abbreviates it in quite the same place. I only listed four because the table in the documentation looks ugly enough as it is.

OK
This is fact. The museum DOES offer christian based tours. That is a fact and truth. I feel it is important for people who want to go to the museum to learn what man kind has studied (extensively) about the earth, should be able to do just that, not be told what Jesus said; if they wanted to hear that, they would goto church. I apologize if this is insulting to you, but its the truth. The museum's tour guides force completely christian based views and that is wrong and not fair for people who are going there to see the exhibits. This article is COMPLETELY sourced from various credible areas and I feel it is important.

Hi, saw your post on Editor Assistance/Requests. I wouldn't have marked it as resolved either. This is clearly for an issue for the foundation to consider. I would suggest asking Sarah Johnson to contact the foundation pointing out her concerns with the use of her book as a source. I feel very strongly that people with definite conflicts of interest should not be party to bully or dictate which sources we use on Wikipedia. Wong's article in the NYT (albeit some years old) is clearly V and I really see no good reason for it to be removed. "I don't want my book to be associated" is not reasonable enough to delete something that is verifiable. It could well not be untrue, but until further research by Ms Johnson (or others) proves otherwise then it has a place on Wikipedia. The OTRS volunteers at the foundation deal with these matters day in day out and she should really take those concerns to the foundation who will remove the page history etc and warn editors about recreation etc. -- BpEps - t@lk 16:44, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for your input. I agree with the COI but I put it aside for the moment since she herself didn't edit the article in this case, as opposed to under the previous name. I'd like to know more about why she wants it removed since the museum seems to have no issue with that. I'm happy to remove her article -- it's not independent of the source, but the edit warring over the name, there's also an SPA involved, that's a little old. - Thanks for the reply (I guess you're an editor who likes to keep discussion on the same page). My idea with the foundation is that we get another set of eyes who sarah108j/Jmtibet can get an explanation of what Wikipedia is and that it doesn't kowtow to unreasonable demands. If her demands are seen as correct, she has been vindicated and can sleep more easily knowing that her research is the best in the world. Although it is a small matter, it does have universal concerns for the whole project if this matter isn't dealt with. Neutrality is everything in Wikipedia. -- BpEps - t@lk 17:15, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- Makes sense. I guess what I don't understand is how current research after the woman's death can invalidate a name she used while living that was reported in reputable sources and never retracted. She's on a mission to get this corrected, even contacting me off wiki so I'm sure she won't hesitate to contact OTRS. I assume they can decide what, if anything, to do. And yes, definitely a fan of discussions all being in one place -- I've spent the morning playing catch up and following discussions on another topic on three talk pages and two user talks. Eek! - lol yep it is frustrating sometimes trying to find out what was said - I guess editors talk to so many people that it's not always inconvenient to watch every talk page. So threads on the same talk pages have become non de riguer. Certainly if somebody is contacting you off wiki without reason (that somehow you can listen without public gaze) is a concern but otherwise it maybe just a lack of knowledge of "wikiette". I would be hesitant to contact sarah108j off wiki with what is discussed here, hopefully she will be able to review what we have discussed here (I will put a note on WP:EAR we have a discussion tread here too) and decide what to do without unnecessary edit warring. kind regards -- BpEps - t@lk 17:48, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
- I think I'm guilty of watchlisting too many pages -- need to put the wish list on a serious diet. Good call on the don't resolve it tag. I think this one is definitely one that's going to need further discussion. Going to link the talk page discussion as well as that's relevant TRAVELLINGCARIMy storyTell me yours 18:21, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

Forgive me for not knowing the "wikiette"- I'm not a technology person, I'm an art historian. Travellingcari- I apologize if I offended you by contacting you- I am not familiar with this form of discourse. Again, I would like to point out that I do not dispute that Marchais' married name was Klauber. I dispute the "Jacqueline" and "Norma" variations. An essay on Marchais was published in 1996 in the Museum's catalog that had some inaccuracies that have been challenged through recent research using new archival and geneological material; unfortunately, the misinformation has been reprinted over & over, including in the New York Times. In academic work, the most recent research is usually considered the most updated and accurate. I just didn't want my article linked to the incorrect variations of her name, since the point of the article was to present historically verifiable new information on Marchais. It is curious to me how a Wikipedia editor can cite references, but not read their content. I would be delighted to have the Times retract the misinformation in Wong's article; however, the article was published 10 years ago! Also, I would like to point out again, for the sake of accuracy, that the center's establishment date is 1945 and the 1996 catalog was not published by the Journal of the American Oriental Society. More museums
I gather you weren't pleased by my stubs for greece and south korea? Apologies but I have expanded several of the Korean ones already as has User:Appletrees. I've created numerous ones since like Vietnam Museum of Revolution, several museums in Harare and Ashgabat National Museum of History ♦ Dr. Blofeld ♦ "Visit Mr. Bigglesworth?" 14:40, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
I stubbed most of the greek museums from Wikipedia:WikiProject Museums/Requested Articles ♦Blofeld of SPECTRE♦ $1,000,000? 13:50, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
Re: Parser fcn. question
Yeesss... I think. I haven't used that one very much (as in, at all), I just know it's there, and it works. But I'm pretty sure that's what you could use it for. If that does ever happen, and you can't figure it out, let me know (as I'm sure you will anyway :-P) and I'll play around with it some. Hersfold (t/a/c) 23:44, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
Miranda article
I don't really care about the AfD, as my point still stands - no one does any research nowadays and determines notability on their own feelings. I'm not after a separate article - I don't think it can sustain one - but I wish people would take heed of policies like WP:LOCAL and consider the value of merging to suburb or local area articles where a few lines are more worthy than whole articles. That is why I am annoyed. JRG (talk) 05:09, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
Re:Theguywhoiswhateverhisnameis
His additions post-warning to the ATHF article seem to be in good faith, if misdirected. There is nothing inherently vandalous about adding random info about your favorite cartoon characters. I would warn him in plain english to stop re-adding the "fact" (like actually type out a friendly warning, not just a template) and see where he goes from there. When he starts to add random swear words to articles, or blanks them, or does something else like that, then we can block him. Atleast based on his edits since he was warned, he is at least TRYING to add something positive (in his mind) to an article, and may not understand why it has been removed... --Jayron32.talk.contribs 20:24, 22 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I always feel that if there is a chance that some guy is just trying out the equipment, if you will, and isn't just rapidly vandalizing articles, its best to revert and re-educate rather than revert and block. Heck, my first edits (to the article about my old High School and home town) would probably not count as much better than this guys. And now I have written several featured articles and am an admin! It is SO easy to revert and block later if we are wrong, but we can't improve a possible future good contributor if we block too early... --Jayron32.talk.contribs 20:37, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for re-adding it. I posted it from a handheld, saw it come up as closed and thought it had coincidentally been concluded during my slow-moving cut and paste. Now I realise it was of course the original AfD, not the current one. Euryalus (talk) 04:27, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Syed Ali Akbar Prod Removal
Thanks! I really thought I checked the history but I missed the Afd. I will watch if it comes up again and restate my prod position. I avoid taking stuff to Afd myself. Happy editing! --Stormbay (talk) 02:29, 24 April 2008 (UTC)
Nathan Mumm
I agree, that was too early. AFD is weird sometimes. I've had to kick and fight to keep articles on best-selling boardgames, or individuals with entries in the American National Biography, but an article on an obscure minor league sports team owner is snowball kept. I'm not interested in a DRV or anything, though. Some of the information at Nathan Mumm should at least be merged somewhere, so deletion tools weren't necessary anyways. Cats ordering
Sometimes I alphabetize cats if I make a change to one & in this case, the change was making "Defunct Museums" to "Defunct Museums in the United States". This sometimes adds to consistency across the board, but not always. I'm not aware of any guidance for ordering cats. If there is a logical reason to order them differently, I would go for it. Categories
No problem - I don't think anyone knows all the categories! It can be useful to look at a similar article and see how that is categorised, but part of the joy of Wikipedia is that we're all working collaboratively, so you can add to and improve articles I've created, and vice versa. List of Museums in NY
- Hi, this is my current project, having completed lists for all the New England states and several other states. NY is so big that this will take me some time to finish, but I hope to have all museums listed, especially the small historical society museums. There will be lots of red links! Jllm06 (talk) 23:08, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- Great, I'm glad you are creating more museum pages. If you create a page for a museum in NY City, please put them in the category for their borough (Museums in Manhattan, etc.). This is more useful and they are then grouped under the umbrella Museums in New York City. Thanks! Jllm06 (talk) 21:54, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
