{{hangon}} I believe my page was nominated for deletion by error.

I was creating a page about a site I'd visited... my page looks identical to one you already have here - http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/The_Motley_Fool

I am not the owner of TradingChief.com... and from what I am aware, they do not advertise - I've included that in the text.

They had some unique tools I thought was worth a mention - and I'd used similar sections as "The Motley Fool" already on your site.

Also it was listed as a private company from Kingston Ontario... like this one http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Transformix_Engineering

I'm now unable to do any further edit. Regards, TradingChief (talk) 13:24, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. If you aren't from Trading Chief then you ought not to have picked a user name for yourself falsely identifying yourself as being from Trading Chief. You've been blocked from editing under that user name, and I think it's going to stay that way. As the block notice says, you're free to replace it with a nonpromotional name.
As for the tone of your article, it isn't comparable to the Motley Fool article, in that it reads as though it were written by someone from the marketing department, with talk of its "warm and congenial stress-free environment", being a place where serious traders and investors meet, subjective insights into the great lengths they go to in providing service, an indication of how welcome users are to do such-and-such, and repeated emphasis on how unique their features are. This is all brochure-speak, written in a style geared to appealing to potential users.
In any event, for there to be an article on this company, it would have to meet Wikipedia's guidelines for notability for businesses or notability for websites, based on information that can be referenced to objective third-party reliable sources, with appropriate citations. —Largo Plazo (talk) 13:56, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your response, I will change my user name and will review the material as you suggest for the other categories. I am not a marketer either, I grew up in England and that's how I was taught to write. My sincere apologies for taking up your time. I will take a much closer look at your requirements.TradingChief (talk) 14:17, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on TradingChief.com, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. —Largo Plazo (talk) 12:15, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please create a new account with a username that represents only you. If your username doesn't represent a group, organization or website, you may ask for a review of this username block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} below this message. Thank you. -- Ed (Edgar181) 12:20, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

entered my page then got nomination for speedy deletion - which I believe was in error, please see above. Then I was unable to edit. I was describing some tools I'd seen, they are very similar to a page already on your site - http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/The_Motley_Fool I'm a first time user and since I was writing about the subject I chose the same username - probably was a bad idea. TradingChief (talk) 13:45, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

Procedural, in favor of username-unblock request below. UltraExactZZ Said ~ Did 15:12, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

Allowing username change to candles55 (talk · contribs). Please put this request in at Wikipedia:Changing username as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking.

OK, so now that you've got this part right, we must ask: what articles are you interested in editing besides the one on TradingChief? Daniel Case (talk) 15:37, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Daniel, I'm interested in the area of investing - various related topics - Technical Analysis, stock charting and in particular - investing tools and use of discussion boards available to part time investors like myself. Timely access to good / valid investing data (which includes real time discussion boards and company info or mining data) to perform due diligence on a potential stock purchase is critical in making a decision in buying and selling stocks. What investing data is available and where can it be accessed is not obvious to the average investor on the internet. I've learned from my first entry, it's a fine line and can easily be construed as marketing. TradingChief (talk) 06:26, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

TC, Wikipedia is not a WP:HOWTO guide ... those topics do not tend to be encyclopedic. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 21:10, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
It's not a fine line but a fairly clear one; at Wikipedia, we avoid writing about ourselves and our own web sites and businesses. I can't tell, from your reply here, whether you're planning to follow that guideline in the future or not. -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 22:13, 26 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As stated to Largo Plazo (please see above), I am merely a "user" who has come across a set of investing tools I was "attempting" to describe - I am not the owner of the business or the website. Yes - I want to follow your guidelines. For this and future submissions... I am willing to work with anyone here to ensure guidelines are adhered to. TradingChief (talk) 04:56, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Note I am going to WP:AGF and unblock to allow the name change, as you appear to address the original blocking admin's question. However, be advised that multiple admins will have already added your new account to their watchlist. We have strict policies on the use of original research, so do not include these "investing tools" in anything that you edit on Wikipedia. Also, in your original unblock request you use the words "my article" - you do not have any articles of your own. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 10:30, 28 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. I will do my utmost to comply with, and to follow all your guidelines. TradingChief (talk) 04:20, 29 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
