It's not really helpful to make articles that are essentially blank. You really do have to add some content. AT the very least, the relevant dates and a reference--and you should certainly try to go beyond that. If you want to start several at a time, just don;t press the submit button until they're actually ready.

There is in fact a criterion by which they could be deleted immediately, as essentially empty articles just repeating the name of the subject, I haven't done that now, because I want to give you a chance to fill them in. But you must do so. I will consider deleting any not improved in another day or so, but another admistrator might very well decide to do this earlier. DGG ( talk ) 14:16, 26 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi TorpetLegionary, and thank you for your enthusiasm in creating new Wikipedia pages (called "articles" in Wikipedia jargon). But just stop for a little while, OK?
Please read what Matty.007 wrote on the French 11th Corps "Talk page". You have to add some "content" - like "the French 11th Corps were a unit of the French Army that fought in that battle of (battle name) in (date) of the (war name) - or those pages are going to be very speedily deleted.
If you are interested in Military History, I would strongly recommend you go straight to WikiProject Military history, and read it thoroughly before you start another article.

Edits to Greek and Roman articles

Please stop changing era styles from BC and AD to BCE and CE. Per MOS:ERA, these styles should not be arbitrarily changed from one to the other, where used consistently in an article; also note that most Greek and Roman articles consistently use BC and AD. Also please avoid adding "Consul Prior" and "Consul Posterior" to biographical articles and Roman gentes; this distinction is of extremely limited importance, and is often merely inferred from the order in which names are recited in ancient sources. It has little or no relevance outside of the list of Roman consuls. Note that most articles treat "consul" and other Roman magistracies as a common noun; in some cases words like this may be capitalized in some articles and not in others (for instance, mentions of the Roman senate may or may not capitalize "senate"), but as long as it is done logically and consistently in an article, it is not necessary to change the established style in each article. You asked about the Manual of Style. This is a guide to general policies for editing Wikipedia articles, and contains links to other pages with more details. It's not necessary to become an expert who can quote all of these policies without looking them up, and it's not horrible if you run afoul of something technical you didn't notice or a specialized policy you haven't read yet. But glancing over this page and some of the related ones (there's a lot of help available to editors of all skill and experience levels) will help you avoid conflicts with other editors. Note that the Manual of Style and other Wikipedia policies aren't bludgeons; there are exceptions to most policies, and many individual projects have their own written or unwritten standards (as is the case with WikiProject Classical Greece and Rome).
My focus is on Roman biographical articles, especially gentes, (although I do write on individuals and institutions, and some topics outside of Classics), so I'm likelier than most editors to encounter your work. If in doubt as to a change, you may discuss it on each article's talk page by adding a new section using the tab at the top of the page, and asking for input on your suggestion. Not all suggestions receive feedback; that may mean that nobody has strong feelings about it, or that nobody is actively watching the page in question. When replying to someone else's comment, you can indent your reply using colons ( : ) at the beginning, so that it can be quickly identified as replies to previous comments. When you post on talk pages (including user talk pages, such as this one), it's polite to "sign" your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end. This adds a link to your user and talk pages, as well as the time and date you left the message. This makes it easier to tell who's talking in a discussion, and when he or she replied. Note that you don't have to do this with all edits, since article histories do this automatically. These procedures are for talk pages, such as this one, which is yours. March Madness 2017

G'day all, please be advised that throughout March 2017 the Military history Wikiproject is running its March Madness drive. This is a backlog drive that is focused on several key areas:

  • tagging and assessing articles that fall within the project's scope
  • updating the project's currently listed A-class articles to ensure their ongoing compliance with the listed criteria
  • creating articles that are listed as "requested" on the project's various task force pages or other lists of missing articles.

As with past Milhist drives, there are points awarded for working on articles in the targeted areas, with barnstars being awarded at the end for different levels of achievement.

The drive is open to all Wikipedians, not just members of the Military history project, although only work on articles that fall (broadly) within the military history scope will be considered eligible. More information can be found here for those that are interested, and members can sign up as participants at that page also.

The drive starts at 00:01 UTC on 1 March and runs until 23:59 UTC on 31 March 2017, so please sign up now.

2017 Military Historian of the Year and Newcomer of the Year nominations and voting

As we approach the end of the year, the Military History project is looking to recognise editors who have made a real difference. Each year we do this by bestowing two awards: the Military Historian of the Year and the Military History Newcomer of the Year. The co-ordinators invite all project members to get involved by nominating any editor they feel merits recognition for their contributions to the project. "Military history" is one of the most important subjects when speak of sum of all human knowledge. To support contributors interested in the area over various language Wikipedias, we intend to form a user group. It also provides a platform to share the best practices between military historians, and various military related projects on Wikipedias. An initial discussion was has been done between the coordinators and members of WikiProject Military History on English Wikipedia. Now this discussion has been taken to Meta-Wiki. April 2018 Milhist Backlog Drive

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Hey y'all, the April 2021 WikiProject Military History Reviewing Drive begins at 00:01 UTC on April 1, 2021 and runs through 23:59 UTC on April 31, 2021. Points can be earned through reviewing articles on the AutoCheck report, reviewing articles listed at WP:MILHIST/ASSESS, reviewing MILHIST-tagged articles at WP:GAN or WP:FAC, and reviewing articles submitted at WP:MILHIST/ACR. Service awards and barnstars are given for set points thresholds, and the top three finishers will receive further awards.
