The article Jockey Tony Vega has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. Information icon Please do not write or add to an article about yourself, as you apparently did at Jockey Tony Vega. Creating an autobiography is strongly discouraged – see our guideline on writing autobiographies. If you create such an article, it may be deleted. If what you have done in life is genuinely notable and can be verified according to our policy for articles about living people, someone else will probably create an article about you sooner or later (see Wikipedians with articles). If you wish to add to an existing article about yourself, please propose the changes on its talk page. Please understand that this is an encyclopedia and not a personal web space or social networking site. If your article has already been deleted, please see: Why was my page deleted?, and if you feel the deletion was an error, please discuss it with the deleting administrator. Thank you. This article is not about me, it is about my father who is deceased. He was an athlete and legend who i would like to have recognized and have his bio/profile on wikipedia so when people search his name, they have a reliable source of information that they can trust. Instead of always deleting people stuff, maybe one of you jerks can actually give some advice and help fix the damnn page already. no reason it should take me 6+ years to start a page on here. freaking ridiculous. smh

Your draft article, Draft:Johnny Vega

[edit]

Hello, Tony Vega jr. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Johnny Vega".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 06:00, 5 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Johnny vega requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Whomever is nominating the Tony Vega page for speedy deletion must either have a personal vendetta against Mr. Vega, and is probably working for the mobsters who ran Vega out of horse racing for refusing to purposely blow races for payoffs. Let them man rest in peace, and stop trying to tarnish his legacy and his outstanding accomplishments in the sport of kings. Im really starting to dislike the way some of these editors just bounce credible articles off of wikipedia because they have doubts or whatever the case may be. If a person is a notable professional athlete who was at one point ranked number #1 in the United States, and up for the most prestigious award (Eclipse Award) in Horse racing, not to mention being all of the awards, books that mentioned him, Countless newspapers & magazine articles, interviews and features on ESPN, ABC, NBC, 60 minutes, FOX Sports television etc doesn't make him notable enough, I don't know what will. Who is Ruf10 by the way?? seems like your really trying to get Tony vega's page deleted all of a sudden for some other reason. if you read the last thread, you'd see that Tony vega fit the criteria and is in fact a notable athlete who fits wikipedia criteria. Whats your real reason for nominating Tony Vega for speedy deletion all of a sudden, and who are you??

- Also, if i wanted promotion, i could easily spend money advertising on social networks, website advertisements etc. That is not why i started this article/bio. This is for the thousands of people who constantly search, ask, and wonder why wikipedia didn't have an article on one of the most respected, and well known jockey's in the U.S. for the last thirty years. Tony Vega is a legend at racetracks around the world, and was a superstar jockey in his prime.

Hey there

[edit]

Do not get frustrated. You can write a blog entry, or set up a web page, or record a Youtube video with your information on your father, and that can be used as a reference in Wikipedia. Wikipedia should always reference an outside source and that can be you reminiscing about your father and reporting what you learned in your research. You can also migrate your draft of the biography to Familypedia in a single cut and paste. I also added him to Familysearch. --RAN (talk) 04:31, 7 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Image improvement suggestion

[edit]

The image of the article's subject in "Tony Vega (jockey)" needs dating. Could you provide more background info? By the way, image legends in BLPs are typically simple: "name", "place", and "date". All detailed information is provided in the main text; too long a legend is unnecessary overkill. Take care. -The Gnome (talk) 12:38, 21 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
