Managing a conflict of interest

Hello, Tony-JackManly. Hello, I'm RA0808. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to CockyBoys have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Wikipedia does not need the ad copy summaries of each CockyBoys movie. At most it needs a simply list of title and year of release. Hello Tony-JackManly. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Tony-JackManly. Hi Sam! I'm not sure if this is the way to respond to you as I'm not a seasoned Wikpedia user. In any case, no, I am not being compensated (directly or indirectly) for my edits. My work for my friend is voluntary User:Tony-JackManly

One way or another, both myself and other editors view your edits as promotional. It may be best to read up on WP:NPOV and to edit other articles. Sam at Megaputer (talk) 22:30, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the guidance, but I am still at a loss for how to correct my edits. I am assuming there are other problems on the Wikipedia page and without specifics I'm flying blind. How does one list awards without sounding promotional.Does that section need to be deleted entirely? And what about the rest of the page? --Tony-JackManly (talk) 22:44, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

Usually, it is not appropriate to include giant lists of awards in articles about companies. If Cockyboys has won any major awards, (e.g. a porn Emmy) it may be appropriate to mention the one or two most important awards in prose. Otherwise there is not need to mention them.
