African legal philosophy has its basis from nature, sources, aims and administrative issues that are aligned with law as well as how variety of issues are addressed with a legal system[1]. It is more interested in changing laws and legal issues in Africa. African traditions has no history that was written but the rely on the older people to tell about the history and the same recipe is used for African legal philosophy. African legal philosophy was unfortunate mainly because it has never enjoyed the privilege that European philosophy had and as a result of this they had lay their foundation by relying on African legal philosophy. This has led to African customary courts being removed and installation of European courts was the business of the day[2]. This has destroyed the African system of conflict resolution and it also deprives African legal theory to move forward. Nature of African legal philosophy African legal philosophy has been influenced by Euro-centric view to such extent that it is even forgotten. Themes in African legal philosophy Themes are backbone of thoughts, influence law and legal philosophy. Communitarianism [8] is a nucleus theme which shows the family unit and the extended family. Reconciliation [9] pays attention on harmony amongst the African societies. Ubuntu.[10] plays a huge role in Africans- the humanness, morality and compassion shared by Africans. Ubuntu has change court processes as African courts show the need to be humane. 4. African legal philosophy and other philosophies African legal philosophy has been borrowing from other philosophies that resulted in debates that make positivism and natural law as suitable premises.
